Summit celebrates Holyween
The Summit Academy high school students treated the younger classes to an All Saints Day celebration on Friday afternoon. Taylor Lustig and Theresa Wemhoff dress the part of African saint, Josephine Bakhita at the Holyween party last Friday.
In the school tradition of Holyween the children dressed as their favorite saints and were then invited to move through an elaborate maze put together for their enjoyment and education by the high school classes. Crawling through dark boxes and even descending a slide the students arrived at each station, where the older students re-enacted scenes from the lives of various saints.
The wedding scene depicted the life of St. Cecilia, one could find St. Francis of Assisi in the woods, and the exciting and inspiring story of St. Rita kept all interested.  In the final station of St. Peregrine the children were asked to write the names of those suffering cancer on the wall and all were invited to pray by candlelight.
In the end all the little saints arrived at heaven, in the gym, with beautiful white lights and were treated to cookies and even home-made cotton candy made by the high school students who were dressed as angels. The photos of the little saints that were taken earlier were presented in heaven on a slide show and the entire event ended with prayer and litany of the saints.
