8 turn out for wrestling
New wrestling head coach Dan Altman has 8 wrestlers turned out this season, 7 of which advanced to the state tournament last year.Prairie wrestlers practiced Monday at the Elementary gym. Kade Perrin and Damien McWilliams go at it on the left while assistant coach Justin Nuxoll gives heavyweight Mitch Jungert someone his own size to scrimmage against.
There are 7 sophomores and 1 senior on the squad, which saw their first action in a dual meet at Potlatch Tuesday, Dec. 7. They return to Potlatch this Saturday, Dec. 11 for the Potlatch Invitational Tournament.
Mitch Jungert is the lone senior on the squad and advanced to state as a heavyweight last season.
Returning sophomores are Tyler Ross, Alex Duman, Tayler Heitman, Kade Perrin, Damien McWilliams and Garrett Schmidt, who all advanced to state as freshmen last season, and Josh Wimer.
They donít appear to have anybody doubled up in weight classes like Duman and Heitman were last year as Heitman has moved up from 112 to 119 lbs while Duman remains at 112.
Justin Nuxoll and Chris Altman will help out as assistant coaches.
