Blue and Gold Banquet held
This year’s Cub Scout Blue & Gold Banquet theme was “Mining the Treasures Within.” The theme revolved around Cub Scouting’s 12 core values: Citizenship, Compassion, Cooperation, Courage, Faith, Health and Fitness, Honesty, Perseverance, Positive Attitude, Resourcefulness, Respect and Responsibility.
Our District Representative Don Owen presented a definition of each value to us that we can use at each of our scouting meetings, activities and in our daily lives.
Webelos sang a song, and then did a ply with homemade sock puppets. Their play was a re-enactment of one of the stations at the Klondike Derby. They made a lake scene on a piece of cardboard.
Also the Wolves performed a skit called “Mmm Good.” This skit takes place in a dining hall at camp. A couple boys find a pot of soup, so they get some spoons and just start eating it. They say it’s the best food they’ve had all week at camp. Looking up the cook comes out yelling at the boys saying, “Get those spoons out of my mop water.”
Presenting awards that night were Dan Karel, Shari Chaffee, Roger Burgess and Aleta Coppernoll. We had Matt Coppernoll and Cole Martin receive their Wolf Badges and Caleb Butler and Travis Alfrey receive their Tiger Badges. Also receiving awards were our lone Bear Cub Andrew Schlader who received his whittling chip. He can officially use a pocket knife at scouting activities. Carson Schmidt received his Webelos sportsman pin and artist pin. Jared Coppernoll received his craftsman pin, Anthony Karel received his family member pin, and Hunter Chaffee received his craftsman pin. Justin Lockett and Remington Sprute also received awards. All in all everyone had a great time visiting with friends and family.
We are looking forward to our next activity which is our Pinewood Derby coming on March 12.

Members of Pack 639 show off all their hard work on projects they have accomplished to earn badges.
