events for Tri-Parish youth
The month of March brings with it the invitation to embrace a deeper understanding the words sacrifice, mercy and love. Lent begins the journey toward the cross and ultimately ends up the place of resurrection. It is here in this journey that we invite you to join us as we learn, grow, and pray together as a young community gathered in God’s name. We begin the month with our Confirmation Prep Class at 7:00 p.m. March 2, at the High School Peace Building. As we finish the Creed we will continue our discussion on Church through further exploration of the laity and religious with guest speakers of Sister Sue Ellen Drexler, Sister Wendy Olin and David Hamm. Please bring you assignments and last session’s vocabulary sheets. Our next Confirmation meeting will be April 6th at 7:00 p.m. On March 4th all of the H.S. and Jr. High youth are invited to the OMG for a movie and popcorn at 8:00 p.m. At 10:00 p.m. we will go to Adoration at St. Mary’s Church. This is a great opportunity to spend some quiet time with Jesus. This opportunity challenges you to put down your Ipods and cell phones and hear what God may be saying. Try it. You may be surprised at the results! On Monday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m. all Jr. High and High School youth who attended the rally in Coeur d’Alene or ICYC in Boise are asked to attend a “reflection of faith” night. We will discuss our experiences and plan how we will share these experiences with our local parishes. Pizza will be provided. On Wed. March 9th the Lenten journey begins with Mass at St. Mary’s at 7:00 a.m., Assumption at 12:00 p.m. and St. Anthony’s at 7:00 p.m. On Friday, March 11, the High School youth will be hosting the Stations of the Cross and Soup Supper along with St. Ann’s Guild at 6:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church. Everyone is invited to join us! On Monday, March 14th at 7:00 p.m. the Peer Ministers will meet at the OMG to plan the monthly REACH session. Bring your enthusiasm and ideas. The last REACH session was amazing so let’s see what we can do this month to build the young Body of Christ. On Tuesday, March 15th @ 7:00 p.m. we have tentatively planned our Theology of the Body small group session. We will have pizza at 6:00 p.m.. Our focus on the Sacrament of Marriage will continue and our speakers for the evening will be Theresa and Vic Lustig. (If we need to reschedule this session, I will let you know.) I will be flying to the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress on March 16th and return on March 21st. Please pray for me as I embark on a 4-day journey of growing, learning and listening as the Catholic faith is shared, discussed and explored with thousands of faith filled people throughout the U.S. On Wednesday, March 23rd, the Peer Ministers are hosting the monthly REACH session at the OMG at 7:00 p.m. All High School and Jr. High youth are invited and encouraged to attend. Peer Ministers, please be present at 6:15. There will be no youth group session during the week of Spring Break: March 28th-April 1st. Have a great week and enjoy some time with your family! During this time of year, our faith challenges us to go deeper inside and join Christ on a 40-day journey in our own desert of reflection. This time does not have to be laden with sadness and guilt, rather it provides and opportunity to gather together to rejoice in a God that is willing to stand with us as we journey together in both our ups and downs. Therefore, as a community of young believers we invite you to walk with us this month as we come together in God’s name and to share all that God offers through the graces of the young Church gathered.
