Letters to the editor from this week's Chronicle:

To the Voters of District #242
On May 17, 2011, you will be asked to vote for or against the proposed levy of $395,000 asked for by our School Board.
Do you remember the years when our School Districts were under local control with NO State or Federal Mandates?? Those were the good times!
The Prairie School District is not surprised with our state superintendent’s plan of The Students Come First. Purpose of the plan is to promote opportunity for students to excel and advance and to provide college opportunities for our high school students. Our school has many opportunities for students to take online courses. Numbers show that Prairie students are taking advantage of this opportunity already. Business is telling our kids that they need to be able to communicate with one another and work together. This is a part of education that we can’t afford to lose.
For further information and questions contact: Roy Schumacher, 962-3619; Della Gehring, 962-7721; Pat Alfrey, 962-7230; Lynn Guyer, 962-2348; Gus Hoene, 962-3432; Rene’ Forsmann, 962-3971.
Exercise your right to Vote on May 17.
Thank you,
Shorty & Marge Arnzen
