Wellness exams available at Ladies Night Out
The Komen for the Cure Ladies Night Out next Tuesday, July 19th has appointments available for women who would like The SMH Dietary Depart are preparing fruit kabobs and sweet potato bars with lemonade for the July 19th Ladies Night Out., Pictured are Kevin Conger and Sally Seubert (front) and Angela Seubert and Cindy Schnider (back).to schedule their annual female wellness exams.  “We’ll bill the Komen grant for women who are under and uninsured, but anyone can schedule their appointment for that evening by calling our Cottonwood Clinic, 962-3267.  Private insurances can also be billed.  Financial arrangements are kept strictly confidential,” said Shari Kuther, RN.
The evening will feature Heidi Henson, CHES, Health Promotion Coordinator for Public Health, North Central District.  She will have a derma scanner available for anyone wanting to check their facial area for potential sun damage and other conditions.  Handouts on conducting skin cancer self-checks and identifying possible cancerous or precancerous lesions will be available.  
“The St. Mary’s dietary department is planning fruit kabobs and sweet potato bars with lemonade which are delicious and healthy,” said Kevin Conger, DTR, Dietary Manager.  “My crew really gets into the swing of things so we’ll have fun making the treats for the evening.”
The Ladies Night Out programs are funded by a grant from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Boise Affiliate.  The grant underwrites the cost of mammograms and wellness exams for Idaho County women between the ages of 18 and 49 who are uninsured or whose insurance companies don’t cover the entire cost.  It has to be a year since their last mammo or exam.  Women who have received the service through past Komen grants are eligible again this year.
Dr. Haley Minnehan, Dr. Obbie Atkinson and Peg Gehring, FNP, are scheduled for appointments that evening for women wanting their exams.  Appointments for Komen funded exams can be made at any time with any provider at any of the SMH clinics. “We sponsor the Ladies Night Outs just to make it fun and educational for local females,” said Kuther. “Our goal is to help women maintain their health through health screenings, appointments and education.”
