Lady Patriots lose at Logos
Traveling to Moscow Thursday, Summit’s volleyball team ran into a host of seniors at Logos and despite putting up a good battle and one of their better matches to date, dropped all three games to the host Knights.
Logos, with 11 seniors and one junior on their varsity, took the Patriots in three straight, with scores of 25-18, 25-16, 25-17, using shorts set and excellent passing to set up their slams at the net. Summit played well defensively but was unable to penetrate consistently the veteran defense of the Knights.
Savanah Prigge and Kayla Schumacher led the Patriots with 9 and 8 kills respectively, while Brooke Schumacher led the team with 10 assists. Points scored of serves were hard to come by because of the Knight defense, but Courtney Schwartz and Brooke Schumacher with 6 and 4 respectively had the highest serving points totals for the team. Schwartz and Prigge had 3 digs each and Nicole Wemhoff had 4.
The loss leaves the Patriots with a 1 and 3 record, 0-2 in the White Pine League due to losses to Prairie and Genesee at last week’s tri-match. Summit was swept by Genesee 25-8, 25-17, 25-16 while the Prairie match is written up on page 5. Next action for the Patriots is a league match at C.V. followed by the first home match against Potlatch at Prairie High School.
The Patriot JV’s are now 2-2 after winning 3 straight from Logos, 25-5, 25-22 and 15-12. Sarah Chmelik was the lead server in that match scoring on 15 serves, 12 in a row in the first game alone. Rachael Frei also served well in the match, scoring on 10 of her serves.
