Innkeepers reflect on second summer season
The Inn at St. Gertrude just completed its second summer season. After opening in May 2010, word is spreading that the Benedictine Sisters now offer a Bed & Breakfast. Visitors who aren’t on retreat or volunteering are finding the Inn to be a great way to experience the Monastery. Sister Chanelle Schuler and Sister Corinne Forsman, Innkeepers at the Inn at St. Gertrude.
Innkeepers Sister Corinne Forsman and Sister Chanelle Schuler stayed busy this summer welcoming guests, guiding them around the Monastery campus and delivering homemade goodies for evening dessert. The two Sisters are delighted by all the travelers who bring interesting and varied stories of their lives.
What has surprised them the most this season, however, is the number of reservations that have come from Camas Prairie. Many local families booked the Inn in preparation for relatives arriving for birthdays, weddings and other celebrations. Sister Corinne is happy the Inn has been able to serve the Prairie this way and very grateful to be considered by families with major upcoming events. “It lifts my heart whenever a local family calls for these reservations. Thank you so much!”
Fall is also proving to be a busy season at the Inn at St. Gertrude with guests arriving from near and far.
