Cottonwood City Council meets
The Cottonwood City Council held their regular December meeting Monday, Dec. 12.
A resolution was read by Mayor Denis Duman to deny the Idaho Department of Corrections annexation request. The original reason for the request was no longer applicable.
Jim Remacle was present representing Cottonwood Credit Union with a request to reduce or eliminate the utility charges against the Royale Room. Sanitation charges have already been paid by the city to Walco and water and sewer minimums to meet the city’s bond were charged so it was felt there wasn’t a lot they could do. The council members decided to research the matter further to see what can be done.
In the water report Pat Holthaus noted there was a 25% loss. Roy Uhlenkott has been unable to locate any leaks that would lead to this. They are asking anyone who spots a water leak to let the city know.
Ron Grant reported they are looking into fixing the main sewer line from the highway east to the treatment site. He has some ideas on how to proceed but 3 proposals are needed.
Jack Duman reported he is looking into some grant money for street coatings for 2013.
Shelli Schumacher reported there is a new floor in the city clerk’s office which was installed by the city crew.
Grant reported the fire department had 2 calls. One a car fire for the rural department and the other an extrication on Highway 95. He said they have 2 new volunteers and are also looking into purchasing some new turnouts and air bottles.
The VEBA Health Reimbursement Program was tabled until city clerk Carol Altman could be present. Altman was unable to attend the meeting due to an injury.
In new business the election results supplied by the county were accepted.
Also the meeting dates for 2012 were approved. The council will continue to meet the second Monday of each month except for October when it will be that Tuesday due to the Columbus Day holiday.
A special meeting has been set for Thursday, Dec. 15 at 1:30 p.m. to meet with representatives from Senator Jim Risch’s office.
The council meeting adjourned at 8 p.m. The next regular meeting will be Monday, January 9 at 7 p.m.
