Summit girls win twice
The Summit ladies raised their season record to 14 and 4 and their White Pine League record to 8 and 2 last week, with easy victories over Orofino, 38-22, and Highland, 56-20.Brooke Schumacher brings the ball downcourt against Highland.
Summit JV also won twice, easily in both cases, with a 26-5 victory over Orofino and downing Highland 38-2 with both games last two quarters.
At Orofino Summit led 8-2 after one quarter, 18-7 at the half and 30-13 after three quarters. Those scores indicate a defensive oriented game with lowing shooting percentages for both teams. Savanah Prigge was the exception as she netted 22 points with 7 rebounds while Rachael Frei added 4 and 4, Nicole Frei 0 and 3, Sarah Chmelik 2 and 5, Kayla Schumacher 2 and 2, Nicole Wemhoff2 and 3, and Brooke Schumacher 6 and 3. Assist stats showed Nicole Frei with 1, Chmelik with 1, Kayla Schumacher with 2, Wemhoff with 2 and Brooke Schumacher with 4. Brooke also added 5 steals with Kayla Schumacher, Wemhoff and Prigge collecting 4 each with Prigge also recording a block. Nicole Frei added 3 steals while Rachael Frei added 2.
Highland’s league game turned into a runaway after the first quarter and clinched the #1 seed for Summit into the Division 2 district tournament.
Summit led just 12-7 at the end of the first quarter but a 13-4 run in the second quarter led to a 32-17 halftime lead. 
Summit then dominated the third quarter by outscoring Highland 17-2 to take a commanding 49-19 lead into the fourth quarter and outscored Highland 7-1 in a running clock 4th quarter for the 56-20 final. In all they outscored Highland 24-3 in the second half.
Nicole Frei had her best game of the year as she scored 14 points with 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 steals. She was 6 for 8 from the field and 2 for 2 at the line. Other scoring, rebounding, assists and steals stats are Rachael Frei 5, 4, 0, 1; Chmelik 2, 1, 1, 1; Kayla Schumacher 2, 6, 3, 3; Wemhoff 4, 3, 5, 2; Megan Seubert 1, 0, 0, 0; Brooke Schumacher 4, 1, 2, 2; Prigge 20, 6, 0, 2 and 2 blocks and Megan Rehder 2, 2, 0, 0.
Tuesday they were to play the final league game at Prairie and their final regular season game will be Senior Night Friday, Jan. 27 as they host Nezperce in a non-league tilt at PHS.

Summit boys win 1 lose 2
The Summit Patriot boys picked up a win and two losses last week, winning their league game against Timberline but dropping two hard-fought games to Orofino and Logos.
That leaves Summit with a 3-7 overall record and 1-4 league record.
Against Timberline at Nezperce Summit broke away from an 11-11 tie at the end of the first quarter by outscoring Timberline 16-4 in the second quarter for a 26-15 halftime lead. They stayed the course through the second half for a 52-42 win for their first league victory.
Scoring and rebounding stats for the Patriots: Dan Wemhoff 0, 1; Derek Nuxoll 4, 8; Josh Lustig 12, 3 on 3 for 3 shooting from the field and 1 for 1 from 3-point country; Shane Stubbers 6, 8; Justin Dempsey 0, 1; Austin Chmelik 10, 7; Michael Waters 12, 1; Matthew Schwartz 2, 4 and Nathan Beckman 0, 1. Chmelik, Stubbers and Schwartz each dished out 3 assists while Chmelik starred on defense with 3 steals and 7 blocks.
At Orofino, the Patriots stayed close throughout, with quarter scores of 12-13, 23-26, 31-38 and 44-49, but could not get past the Maniacs who scored four treys, dropping one in each time the Patriots threatened.

Playing Logos on Saturday at Highland prior to the girls game there, Summit dropped another hard-fought battle, dropping behind 17-23 at the half and ending up on the losing end of a 32-46 score.
Again, scoring, rebounding, assists and steals stats show: Nuxoll 2, 10, 1, 1; Lustig 3, 0, 1, 0; Stubbers 8, 6, 0, 2; David Waters 0, 7, 0, 1; Michael Waters 6, 2, 0, 3; and Schwartz 4, 1, 1, 0 with Chmelik adding 9, 7, 1, 1 with 2 blocks.
Summit was to play a league game at Lapwai on Monday, Jan. 23; a non-league rematch with Timberline Tuesday, Jan. 24 at PHS and league games at Troy Thursday, Jan. 26 and against Highland at PHS on Saturday, Jan. 28.
