Farm Bureau scholarships available
Idaho County Farm Bureau is taking Scholarship applications for graduating seniors from high school or students already attending college. Three scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $1,000 each. The rules are:
The scholarship is available to a member of an Idaho Farm Bureau family for one year of higher education at an institution of their choice. Ask the school counselor for an application. 
Farm Bureau Scholarships are limited to one per recipient. 
An official transcript high school or if already attending college, an official college transcript. 
Three letters of recommendation must accompany the application. 
A recent photograph will be used for publicity purposes only. 
Extra pages may be added if necessary. 
Deadline is March 9, 2012. Submit your entry in person or mail to the Idaho County Farm Bureau Office, 104 South A St, Grangeville ID 83530. Please do not fax. Or give to Jeanne Arnzen, 962-3327, jaarnzen@mtida.net.

Idaho County Farm Bureau to hold essay, art contests
ESSAY CONTEST
Idaho County Farm Bureau is sponsoring an Essay Contest for all fifth grade students, public, private or home-schooled. The deadline is March 9, 2012, submitted to the Farm Bureau office or contact Jeanne Arnzen. The theme for this year's contest is 'Idaho Agriculture. Telling Your Story, Changing Perceptions.'
Contest Purpose: To create a positive learning experience that promotes reading, writing and the arts, and furthers the understanding of agriculture in our lives.
Judging Criteria: Be original using correct spelling and grammar. Be fact and appropriate for classroom use. Include story title. Be 500 words or less. Relate to Idaho agriculture in a positive way. Be neatly handwritten or typed. Be suitable for publication.
Entry Details:  One entry per student. One student per entry. Limited to 5th grade students during the 2011-2012 school year. Entries must include a completed copy of entry form, mailed to the Idaho County Farm Bureau office, 104 South A, Grangeville ID 83530.
Prizes: County winner receives $50, 2nd and 3rd places receive $25. Submission to the district finals. District Winner receives $50, 2nd and 3rd places receive $25. Submission to the state finals. State Winner receives $75, 2nd $50 and 3rd place receives $25.
In addition to the Essay Contest, any students who write essays may complete the crossword puzzle attached to the entry form. All correct puzzles will be entered into a drawing for $25.00. The teachers will have the entry forms and crossword puzzles for the students.

ART CONTEST
Idaho Farm Bureau is promoting the arts and furthers the understanding of agriculture in our lives by using this contest in the classroom. 
Theme: Idaho Agriculture.
School Year: 2011-2012
Age Group: Grades 6-8, in public, private or home school.
Size: No larger than 8 1/2 x 11 inches.
Medium: water color, color pencil, ink, pastels, oils, etc.
Sorry, no computer generated artwork will be accepted - only original designs.
Prizes: County: 1st place $50, 2nd $25, 3rd $25. All entries submitted to District competition. District: 1st place $50, 2nd $25,  3rd $25. State:   1st place $75, 2nd $50,  3rd $25.
Open to all Public, Private and Home Schools.
