Winter Beef School set for March 8
A  Winter Beef School for area cattle producers will be held on Thursday, March 8th at the Cottonwood Livestock Auction starting at 9:30 a.m.  Cattle producers attending this class will learn about alternative forages that can be used for late season grazing programs and harvested for winter feed. 
Marlon Winger, Natural Resources Conservation Service State Agronomist will be on hand to discuss alternative forage crops and share his experiences with these crops.  A panel discussion with two local producers, Joe Chicane and Neil Uptmor will also be featured.  Joe Chicane will share his experience with  growing millet for winter silage and Neil Uptmor will talk about how he grazed Canola.
The beef school is being sponsored by the University of Idaho, Idaho County Extension Office.  The class is being offered at no charge.  For more information, contact Jim Church at 208-983-2667.
