Proposed levy is less than last year's
Cottonwood School Board members met to set the levy for the 2012-2013 school year.   The proposed override levy will be $387,000 which is 2% less than it was last year.
Board members listened to administration talk about the programs currently being offered and the funding needed to maintain the level of program offerings and extracurricular activities.
Superintendent Forsmann talked to board members about the legislature and their funding priorities.  Dollars are being budgeted at the state level for advanced technology in all grades, one-to-one laptop device for every high school teacher, principal and other certified staff, ongoing professional development to help teachers integrate technology in the classroom, Idaho Digital Learning Academy, and continued funding for the Idaho Reading Initiative, Idaho Math Initiative and ISAT Remediation.
Cottonwood School District will receive 97% protection on the 2010-2011 attendance dollars due to the fact that our enrollment decreased in school year 2011-2012 by approximately 8%.
