Lady Pirates are 2-2 on road trip
The Prairie Lady Pirates went 2-2 on a southwestern Idaho road trip Friday and Saturday, March 23-24.
The trip was paid for through fundraising done by the team.
On Friday, March 23, they split a doubleheader with New Plymouth   losing the opening game 5-7 then winning the second game 6-4. The second game wasn’t originally on the schedule but they took advantage of the nice weather to play a second game.
In the opening game New Plymouth scored 6 runs in the first 3 innings off of Megan Sigler and held on to win.
Prairie outhit New Plymouth 10-9 but 4 errors hurt.  Sigler had a double and a single and Tanna Schlader had a pair of singles to lead the hitting attack. Taylor Nuxoll had a double while Savanah Prigge, MeShel Rad, Monica Lustig, Mackenzie Rieman and Kelsey Tidwell each had a single.
Leah Holthaus pitched the second game and allowed 7 hits and 4 runs.
New Plymouth started the same pitcher again and Prairie jumped on her for 4 runs in the first inning and added single tallies in the fifth and seventh.
Prairie again had 10 hits led by Schlader who had a 2-run homer in the first inning and 2 singles. Sigler and Prigge each had a pair of singles, Rieman a double and Rad and Lustig a single each.

On Saturday, March 24 they traveled to Meridian and played the Centennial JV team, splitting another doubleheader 13-14 and 13-3.
This time the tables were turned as Holthaus pitched the opener and got knocked around for 16 hits and 14 runs while taking the loss. Sigler pitched the second game and limited the Patriots to just 3 runs on 3 hits to pick up the win.
Prairie had their chances to win the opener as they broke a 10-10 tie with a 3 run fifth inning. Centennial scored 2 in the sixth and 2 more in the seventh to come from behind and win.
Prairie had 9 hits in the game led by Sigler who had a triple and 2 singles. Prigge had 2 singles. Rieman had a triple and Lustig, Holthaus and Nuxoll each had a single.
In the second game Prairie had a 7-run third inning to break the game open and wound up winning in 5 innings on the 10-run mercy rule.
They had 12 hits in the game led by Schlader who had a homer, double and 2 singles. Holthaus and Rieman had a double and single each while Sigler had a triple and Prigge, Jessica Kaschmitter and Andrea Kaschmitter each had a single.
Prairie is now 5-3 on the season, 1-0 in league play.
Their game Monday at Orofino got cancelled due to weather.
