team at White Pine Meet
The Summit track team competed for the first time ever in the White Pine League meet Tuesday, April 24 at Lapwai. The girls 4x100 and 4x200 relays were their top finishers as each finished third. In the 4x100 Brooke Schumacher, Kayla Schumacher, Nicole Wemhoff and Sarah Chmelik placed third in 56.52. In the 4x200 the same girls competed but in the order of Chmelik, Wemhoff, Kayla Schumacher and Brooke Schumacher and had a time of 2:05.39. Chmelik was the top individual finisher with a 5th place finish in the long jump at 14’1½”. She also took 10th in the 100 in 14.37. Kayla Schumacher was 9th in the 100 in 14.32 and 11th in the long jump at 12’5”. Brooke Schumacher was 12th in the 100 in 14.45 and 9th in the triple jump at 24’5½”. Wemhoff was 8th in the 800 in 2:51.36 and 10th in the triple jump at 24’8”. As a team the girls placed 11th out of 12 schools with 17 points. For the boys team Dan Wemhoff was 6th in the 1600 in 5:41.31, 13th in the long jump at 15’10”, 19th in the 100 in 12.83 and 20th in the 200 in 27.26. Josh Frei was 9th in the 1600 in 6:26.08 and 13th in the 800 in 2:52.77.
