May 13-19 is National Women's Health Week
St. Mary’s and Clearwater Valley Hospitals and Clinics would like to remind all the women in the area that May 13-19 is National Women’s Health Week.
National Women’s Health Week is a weeklong health observance coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health. It brings together communities, businesses, government, health organizations, and other groups in an effort to promote women’s health. The theme for 2012 is “It’s Your Time.” National Women’s Health Week empowers women to make their health a top priority. Women are encouraged to receive regular checkups, get active, eat healthy, get enough sleep and manage stress in order to improve their physical and mental health and lower their risks of certain diseases.
The tenth annual National Women's Checkup Day will be held on Monday, May 14, 2012, during National Women's Health Week. The day is dedicated to encourage women to visit their health care professionals to receive or schedule checkups, and to promote regular checkups as vital to the early detection of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, mental health illnesses, sexually transmitted infections, and other conditions.
Both SMH and CVHC would like to encourage all the women in the area to call their health care provider to schedule a checkup and discuss any screening and/or tests that would be right for them.  They also want women to join the 2012 Woman Challenge; Get Active and Eat Healthy.
