Russell wins Raspberry Festival t-shirt design contest
On Wednesday, June 28, Hailey Russell received a $100 cash award in the presence of her mother and the Benedictine sisters for winning the Raspberry Festival t-shirt design contest.
“It’s the perfect artwork for our t-shirts,” says Chairwoman Carolyn Radakovich. “Hailey’s drawing is full of the same energy and fun we hope will be at our event.”
Hailey is 12 years old and will be entering 7th grade at Grangeville Elementary Middle School. She is the daughter of Valor and Lorie (Palmer) Russell and plays basketball, takes dance classes and is busy preparing for the upcoming horse show in Grangeville with her horse, Addy.
Hailey was encouraged to enter the contest by her mother and received inspiration for her artwork from visits they had both made to the Monastery. She says her colored pencil and ink drawing took her about a day to finish.
The t-shirts will be on sale at Raspberry Festival on August 5 and will also be given to Fun Run participants. To learn more about the festival and register for the Fun Run, visit www.MyRaspberryFestival.org.
