Letters to the editor from this week's Chronicle:

To the Editor
Today, August 1, cow elk hunting season opened. A lot of the times when the cows are shot the calves will stand where the cow was killed until they starve to death, or the wolves and coyotes kill them. I would like to know what sense that makes.
Another thing I would like to get off my chest. Why the Idaho County Fair opens in the middle of August. When I was a kid it used to open the first part of middle of September. Now the farmers and ranchers are busy haying and harvesting. The garden produce and flowers are not ready yet. Some animals die of heat exposure every year.
Thank you for listening,
Dick Forsman
