Overall sale prices are lower
By Jim Church
The Idaho County Fair wrapped up on Saturday with the annual market livestock sale.  I thought you might be interested in looking at the results from this year’s fair.  Also, the results from 2011 are included for comparison. Overall there were 239 animals that sold for a total of $230,176.  In 2011, there were 223 animals sold for $242,843.  We sold 16 more animals this year and the totals were slightly lower. Support from buyers and the community for the kids and the sale continues to be outstanding.
 2012 Sale:
Steers – 31 head - $2.28 per pound average price - $2837 total per head average
Lambs – 91 head - $4.98 per pound average price - $626 total per head average
Pigs – 116 head - $2.93 per pound average price - $731 total per head average
Goat – 1 head - $5.00 per pound - $455 total
Total sold at the sale = 239 animals - $230,176 total receipts.
2011 Sale:
Steers – 43 head - $1.85 per pound average price - $2288 total per head average
