10 turn out for Summit volleyball
Summit Academy will be taking a young team into the 2012 season with 10 girls turned out for the team.Megan Seubert makes a block at the net during one of Summit’s matches at the Highland Jamboree last Thursday. At left is Kaitlyn Stubbers.
New coaches Danielle Spencer and Emily Rehder take over a squad hit hard by graduation and transfers but bring an upbeat attitude.
Returning players are senior Julia Osborne, juniors Megan Rehder, Rachael Frei and Sarah Chmelik and sophomore Megan Seubert.
Another junior, Abi Chmelik, returns to Summit after spending a year at Prairie.
Filling out the team are 4 freshmen, Jolene Chmelik, Ashlee Stubbers, Kaitlyn Stubbers and Rachel Waters.
Despite having just 10 players Summit will play a JV schedule, likely playing just 2 JV games rather than the usual 3.
Another change to face this year is an expanded league. Deary, Kendrick and Logos of Moscow have all joined the Division II portion of the White Pine League, which should also lead to additional state berths for the league.
Summit competed at a 3-school Jamboree at Highland Thursday and held their own against both Timberline and Highland.
Megan Rehder is about to serve for Summit at the Highland Jamboree.
