Veterans Day program set for Monday
Prairie Schools will be holding a Veterans Day program next Monday, Nov. 12 at 1:30 p.m. at the Prairie Elementary School gym.
Everyone is invited to attend, especially the local veterans.
Chris Hoene will welcome everyone to the event with the Scouts presenting and posting the colors after which the PHS band will play the “Star Spangled Banner.”
There will be a student reading on the “Origins of Veterans Day” and the Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders will sing “America,” “America the Beautiful” and “God Bless the USA.”
Next the PHS Band will do an Armed Forces Salute.
All the guest veterans will be introduced and then John Eynon will introduce the guest speaker, Lieutenant Colonel Loren Crea, USAF.
VFW Post Commander Joe Riener will follow with the presentations of the Patriot’s Pen, Voice of Democracy and Teacher of the Year awards.
Next on the agenda the students will present cards to all the veterans in attendance.
After that the 3rd and 4th graders will lead in “Thank You, Soldiers & Veterans of the USA.”
In closing Gabe Angus will play “Taps” and the Scouts will retire the colors.
