Hospital has new mission director
Sr. Barbara Ann Bielenberg recently joined the St. Mary’s and Clearwater Valley Hospital and Clinics staff as DirectorSr. Barbara Anne Bielenberg of Mission Services. She is replacing Sr. Janet Barnard who is now the full time Treasurer and Procurator at the Monastery of St. Gertrude’s.  Sr. Janet will however continue to teach the Childbirth Education classes at SMH as well as cover PRN for OB call.
Sister Barbara Ann has been a Registered Nurse since 1970; the last ten years at St. Joseph Care Center (SJCC) in Spokane, WA. Starting on the graveyard shift, Sister Barbara became Night Supervisor and later moved to swing shift. She was then appointed day shift MDS (Minimum Data Set) Coordinator, which is part of the Government's federally mandated process for clinical assessments of all residents in Medicare or Medicaid certified nursing homes.  “I decided to retire from the nursing field after 42 years,” comment Sr. Barbara.  “It was just getting too stressful and it was time for me to try something different.  I am very excited about working at both St. Mary’s and Clearwater Valley.”
Sr. Barbara has been a member of St. Gertrude’s Monastery in Cottonwood for 51 years and has been professed for 47 years.  She is from Uniontown Washington and has four brothers and one sister.  “I enjoy singing and playing guitar; I basically taught myself to play guitar by ear. Of course I like to play religious music, but I also enjoy playing some Country Western,” she said.
As Mission Services Director she will be involved with the Mission Integration committees at both SMH and CVHC. She will help coordinate their annual school backpack program for needy students, the Christmas giving trees and the patient emergency fund. She will also coordinate the volunteer chaplains at CVHC and work with the staff chaplain at SMH. In addition, she will work with the Kamiah, Orofino and Cottonwood No One Shall Die Alone chapters.  And as Mission Director she will work closely with patients and family members during difficult times to help with their spirituality needs.
