Youth Ministry schedule for December
Dear Youth in Christ,
“Come and Worship the New Born King!” As we prepare for the birth of our Savior we invite you join us as we celebrate the joyous month of December.  Our time together will be filled with praise, laughter, friends, cooking, service, lights, community, and family!
On Dec. 5th we will continue the joy of the season by watching a traditional holiday movie “Rudolf the Red nose Reindeer”.   We will meet at 7:00 p.m. Bring your favorite treat to share and remember to dress for the theme.  Tis the season!
On Friday, Dec. 7th at 10:00 p.m. you are invited to take a break from the crazy holiday rush by spending some time with the Lord in Adoration.  It’s a perfect solution to the slowing yourself down and refocusing on the meaning of the season.
On Dec. 8th the Haiti 2016 mission team will meet at Greencreek at 9:00 a.m. to set up for a private dinner.  Please remember to gather back at 4:00 p.m. to serve at the dinner.  Another group will be heading to Ferdinand to serve at a dinner at 5:30 p.m.  Also we will be selling Jewelry for the holidays after the 5:00 p.m. Mass at Assumption.  The proceeds from all of these activities will go toward our 2016 mission trip to Haiti.
On Dec. 9th we have a group of youngsters heading to the KC breakfast bright and early to help serve pancakes, bacon, eggs, coffee and juice.  All youth need to be at the KC hall 6:30 a.m.  During the breakfast, the mission team will be taking silent bids for a beautiful statue of the Mother of Guadalupe from Tijuana.  Her feast day is on Dec. 12th  so it’s a perfect time to honor her presence.  Your support is greatly appreciated.  Please note, we will be auctioning more statues off throughout the next few years to help our mission fund so keep your eyes open for more opportunities to purchase these beautiful works of art.
What is Christmas time without Christmas baking?  We will meet at the OMG youth room on Dec. 12th at 3:30 to bake sugar cookies.  If you are interested in helping please contact me and I will assign you an ingredient to bring for this cooking extravaganza. All Jr. High and High School are invited.
On Dec. 15th we will meet at 10:30 a.m. to begin decorating our float for the annual light parade.  The location is not yet determined but will be announced as soon as I get it confirmed.  Every youth who helps is asked to please donate a string of lights to this cause. Our supply is getting rather low.
On Dec. 16th we will have the Youth Mass St. Anthony’s Church at 10:00 a.m. and all Jr. High and High School youth are asked to attend. We need your wonderful presence at this liturgy. A reception will follow.  At 3:30 all light parade participants are asked to meet at Debbie’s office to get dressed for their assigned parts on the float.  Please don’t be late because line- up for the parade is at 4:30.  I always look forward to this wonderful event because your participation really brings Christmas joy to the community.
Now that the fun is over, we will be un-decorating the float right after school on Dec. 17th at 3:30 at St. Mary’s Church alcove. Please come and help us get the trailer cleaned and the decorations put away.  Adults you are invited to come and help too!  Many hands make light work!
The Penance service for Saint Anthony’s is at 7:00 p.m. on Dec. 17th.  The Penance Service for St. Mary’s is at 7:00 p.m. on Dec. 18th.  Join us as we come together to celebrate this beautiful Sacrament of love as a gathered community.  Fa, La, La, La, La, brings with it an invitation to carol on Dec. 19th at the hospital.  We will meet at the OMG youth room @5:30 p.m.  We will carol from 5:30 to 6:30 and gather back at the OMG for chili and hot chocolate.  You are also asked to bring a wrapped Christmas gift for someone. It can be crazy or great.  It’s up to you but it has to be wrapped. Oh yeah, it’s an ugly Christmas sweater party too so wear your ugliest sweater.  This is definitely a prize waiting for you and your “ugly sweater”,  Finally to end the month, the Haiti mission team will be hosting the annual Alumni game at the Prairie Elementary School gym on Dec. 28th , the women’s game will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. and the men’s game will follow.  The cost to play is $10.00 and there will a charge for spectators.  We will have concessions, 3 point contest, foul line contest and a guaranteed great time!  Dust off those shoes and bring your friends! We can’t wait to see and your skills!
Merry Christmas to all and thank you for a fantastic and blessed year! Happy 2013
In the Spirit of the Season,
Debbie
