Summit Girls Split
In their final games before Christmas break the Summit and girls split a pair of league games, losing at Kendrick and then defeating Timberline in overtime.
Vs. Kendrick
Thursday, Dec. 20 the girls played at Kendrick and lost 31-46
Summit kept the game close through the first half, trailing 8-11 after one quarter and 19-23 at the half.
Kendrick broke it open in the third quarter by outscoring Summit 9-16 to take a 28-39 lead.  They then held the Lady Patriots to just 3 points in the fourth quarter as they continued to pull away.
Rachael Frei and Megan Rehder scored 10 points each to lead Summit in scoring with Megan Seubert scoring 6 and Sarah Chmelik 5.

Vs. Timberline
In a makeup for a league game postponed from earlier in the season the Summit girls edged Timberline in overtime 43-40 at Craigmont Friday, Dec. 21.
Summit led nearly the entire game only to have the Spartans rally late to send the game into overtime.
Summit led 9-4 after one quarter and 18-12 at the half. They still led 27-22 after three quarters only to have Timberline outscore them 9-14 in the fourth quarter and actually take the lead with 20 seconds left. Seubert drained a pair of free throws that sent the game to overtime.
It was tied at 40-40 late in the overtime period but Frei hit 3 of 4 free throws to give Summit their margin of victory.
In fact it was free throws that pretty much led to Summit’s win as they were 22 of 39 at the line while Timberline was just 7 for 17.
Frei and Seubert wound up with 12 points each to lead the team in scoring while Sarah Chmelik added 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Jolene Chmelik added 6 points while Rehder scored 2 and Rachel Waters 1.
Summit is now 5-6 on the season and 1-4 in league play.

Summit Boys lose at Kendrick
In their final game before Christmas break the Summit boys traveled to Kendrick and lost a league matchup 56-71 Thursday, Dec. 20.
 Kendrick dominated the first and third quarters. The Tigers jumped out to a 5-15 lead after the first quarter.
Summit got their offense going in the second with 19 points but still trailed at the half  24-35.
Kendrick outscored the Patriots 12-23 in the third quarter to blow the game open as they took a 36-58 lead into the final period.
The Tigers were able to withstand Summit’s late rally as the Patriots outscored the Tigers 20-13 in the final period.
Michael Waters scored 19 to lead the Patriots in scoring with Matthew Schwartz also in double figures with 13. Shane Stubbers scored 8, Josh Lustig 7, Dean Stubbers 4, Thomas Schwartz 3 and Nathan Beckman 2.
Thomas and Matthew Schwartz each connected on a 3-pointer in the game.
With the loss Summit drops to 3-6 overall and 1-3 in league play.
