7 qualify for State Wrestling
The Prairie wrestling team had 4 district champions and qualified 7 wrestlers for State at the District Wrestling Tournament held Saturday, Feb. 16 at Cottonwood.
Tyler Ross at 113 lbs., Tayler Heitman at 126 lbs., Alex Duman at 132 lbs. and Kade Perrin at 145 lbs. all won district titles.
Hunter McWilliams placed second to Duman at 132 lbs. and is also going to state as are Dally Ratcliff, 3rd at 120 lbs. and Kellie Heitman, 4th at 106 lbs. 
Heitman made some history as she is the first female wrestler from the District 1-2 meet to qualify for State.
As a team Prairie wound up second to St. Maries, who dropped down from the 3-A level this year.
State Tournament action starts at 9:30 a.m. (all times MST) Friday, Feb. 22 at Holt Arena in Pocatello (the Minidome). 
Action continues at 1 p.m. with the first loser-out action. Quarterfinals start at 3 p.m. and the second round of loser-out action at 5 p.m.
Action reconvenes Saturday morning at 9 a.m. with another round of loser-out action. At 11 will be the consolation semifinals. At 1 p.m. the 3rd-4th and 5th-6th place matches start. Finally at 3:30 p.m. will be the parade of finalists with the championship matches to follow.

First round matches have Kellie Heitman , 13-24, facing Carson McClain of Malad, 13-8; Ross, 34-7, faces Dalton Smith of New Plymouth, 16-17; Ratcliff, 37-14, faces Sebastian Salazar of Challis, 14-22; Tayler Heitman, 30-8 will face Clay Crandall of North Gem, 21-14; Duman, 51-3, will face Kade Jorgensen of Grace, 26-16; McWilliams, 45-8, will face Cal Willie of Malad, 11-17; and Perrin , 53-3, will face Austin Barzee of Rimrock, 14-17.
Ross and Ratcliff appear to be seeded 8th, Tayler Heitman 5th, Duman 3rd, McWilliams, 4th and Perrin 4th. Kellie Heitman faces the #5 seed.
