Summit eliminated by Deary
The Summit Patriots couldn’t find the basket in the first half and it led to a season-ending 32-45 loss to Deary Thursday, Shane Stubbers looks to shoot in Summit’s season-ending loss to Deary at District. In the back is Matthew Schwartz.Feb. 21 at the District Tournament in Lewiston.
The Patriots were unable to score until the 3:23 mark of the first quarter and were behind 0-6 before Michael Waters hit a short jumper from the baseline. 30 seconds later Matthew Schwartz connected on a left handed shot to cut the lead to 4-6 but Deary added a basket to make it 4-8 at the end of the quarter.
Summit twice pulled within 2 early in the second quarter on a bank shot by Josh Lustig and a free throw by Schwartz but then went nearly 5 minutes without scoring and had just a free throw by Lustig to show for the rest of the half as Deary went on a 1-12 run to take an 8-21 halftime lead.
Summit had hit just 3 of 22 shots in the first half, 14%.
Deary then scored the first 4 points of the second half to take an 8-25 lead before Summit finally started connecting on some 3-pointers.
An 8-2 run featuring a 3-pointer each by Lustig and Schwartz cut the lead to 16-27 but a 3-10 run by Deary pushed the lead back to 19-37. Deary had scored 6 straight before Lustig hit another 3-pointer and then 4 more in a row. 
Lustig ended the quarter with a basket following a steal by Schwartz to make it 21-37 after 3 quarters.
Summit outscored Deary 11-8 in the fourth quarter but it was too little, too late.
Lustig wound up with 14 points to lead the Patriots in scoring while Schwartz scored 12. Waters was held to just 4 points and Shane Stubbers scored 2 points in his final game as a Patriot.
Deary had a 31-37 rebounding edge. Lustig had 10 to lead the Patriots with Stubbers adding 9. 
Schwartz and Lustig had 2 steals each and Waters had 3 assists. Stubbers and Schwartz each had a pair of assists.
With the loss Summit ends their season at 9-15.
