Supplemental Levy info
There will be a supplemental levy election for the Cottonwood School District on Tuesday, May 21. Below are answers to frequently asked questions about the levy.
What does the supplemental levy fund?
The $387,000 supplemental levy provides approximately 13% of the District’s general fund budget.  Revenue from the supplemental levy will allow the district to
Maintain our current staffing
Continue to offer current academic programs
Support extracurricular activities at the current levels
Why do we continue to need a supplemental levy to support schools?
The supplemental levy allows the District to offer programs that are not funded by the public school budget appropriation.  The continued approval of yearly levies has allowed the District to manage revenues and expenditures over the last five years.  In 2008-2009 the public school support for Cottonwood School District was $3,471,376 (base support only).  In 2012-2013, the public school support for the Cottonwood School District is $2,951,869.  Many of our local districts depend on supplemental levies to maintain programs for students.
