GriefShare program begins Monday
The next session of the GriefShare grief recovery program begins with a special orientation session on Monday, July 8, at 6:00 pm, and the 13-week program begins on July 15, continuing through October 14.
GriefShare is a nondenominational faith-based help seminar and support group for people experiencing grief and loss. It is held on Monday evenings from 6:15 to 8:15 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 210 N. Mill Street in Grangeville. Refreshments are provided, and child care is available (please call in advance to make arrangements).
The program is designed to be informal and comfortable. Each 2-hour session begins with a brief introduction, then a 35-minute video seminar featuring nationally-recognized experts in the field of grief recovery and men and women who have lost loved ones (friend, spouse, sibling, parent, child). Following the seminar, there is informal discussion of topics/issues raised in the seminar, then a brief preview of the next week's session. Seminar topics include "The Journey of Grief," "The Effects of Grief," "Why?" and "Stuck in Grief."
The focus is for those who have lost loved ones to learn from others who also have suffered loss, and to experience healing. Trained discussion leaders, who have experienced loss themselves and recovered from their grief, will emphasize that each person's grief experience is unique--there is no 'right' way (or timeline) to grieve. The program is appropriate for anyone who has lost a loved one, regardless of how long ago the death occurred.
Each session is self-contained. Participants can begin at any time, and make up missed meetings during future sessions (fall, winter). The program cost is $15. Scholarships are available. Trinity Lutheran is located at 210 N. Mill Street (across from Blackmer Funeral Home).
