Lady Pirates split league games
The Prairie Lady Pirates split a pair of league road games this past week, losing at Lapwai 60-68 Tuesday, Dec. 3 and winning  59-27 at Clearwater Valley Thursday, Dec. 5.
A home league game scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7 against Genesee has been postponed to January 18 as part of a quad with the Genesee boys.
Vs. Lapwai
Prairie got off to a good start at lapwai as they took a 7-4 lead. Lapwai then started to take control scoring 7 of the next 9 points to take a 9-11 lead. About the time that run started Kyndahl Ulmer picked up her third foul.
Sky Wilson finally broke the run with a basket at the 3:51 mark of the second quarter. Prairie was able to cut the lead down to 10 at 22-32 with 46 seconds left in the half with Schumacher scoring 6 points and Hailey Danly and Wilson 2 each. Lapwai scored the final 5 points of the half though to go back up by 15 at 22-37.
Lapwai scored the first two baskets of the second half to go up by 19 at 22-41 then Prairie started their comeback. A basket by Schumacher and 8 straight points by Ulmer helped Prairie cut the lead to 32-41 as they scored 10 straight points.
Lapwai was able to answer and push the lead back to 14 before Prairie put together an 11-0 run that cut the lead to just 3 points at 47-50 with 6:22 left in the game. Ulmer and Wilson had 4 points each and Nicole Wemhoff 3 in that run.
Lapwai pushed the lead back to 6 and 3 straight free throws by Ulmer cut it back to 3 at 51-54 with 3:34 left but Prairie could not get any closer.
Lapwai was able to convert most of their fourth quarter free throws to hold off the Pirates for the win.
Ulmer and Schumacher wound up with 19 points each to lead Prairie in scoring with Wilson scoring 9, Wemhoff and Keely Schmidt 4 each, Danly 3 and Leah Holthaus 2.
Lapwai held a slim 54-56 rebounding edge. Schumacher and Ulmer each had 17 rebounds to lead the Pirates.
Schumacher had 7 steals with Ulmer adding 4 and Wilson 3. Holthaus had 2 assists.
Prairie was 21 for 67 from the field, 31%, and 18 for 29 at the line, 62%. Lapwai was 20 for 71 from the field, 28%, and 23 for 35 at the line, 66%.
Turnovers were close at 31 for Prairie and 28 for Lapwai.
In the JV game the difference was the scoring of Lapwai post player Evelyn Bohnee who had 26 points as Lapwai beat Prairie 28-46.
Prairie kept it close until midway through the second quarter. It was 10-10 after the first quarter and 15-15 when Shayla VonBargen scored a free throw with 3:35 left in the half. 
Lapwai outscored Prairie 0-10 the rest of the half with Bohnee scoring 6 of those points as she was 8 for 9 from the field in the half.
Lapwai continued to pull away in the second half as poor shooting plagued the Pirates. They hit just 5 of 34 second half attempts.
Kylie Tidwell wound up as Prairie’s leading scorer with 6 points with Natasha Gimmeson, Sarah Seubert and Talyss Lustig scoring 4 each. VonBargen and Chaye Uptmor scored 3 each while Sierra Latimer and Selena Davila added 2 each.
Lapwai held a 40-46 rebounding edge. VonBargen led Prairie with 9 rebounds with Uptmor adding 6.
Gimmeson had 7 steals with Lustig adding 5. Tidwell had 2 assists.
Prairie was 11 for 58 from the field in the game, 19%, and 6 for 23 at the line, 26%. Lapwai was 20 for 51 from the field, 39%, and 4 for 7 at the line, 57%.

Prairie bounced back from their first loss of the season with their biggest win over Clearwater Valley in many years.
Prairie led 12-6 after the first quarter and 30-18 at the half.
They dominated the third quarter 14-2 and outscored the Rams 15-7 in the final quarter.
Ulmer led the way with 20 points and 15 rebounds.
Prairie used pressure defense to force 25 turnovers with many of those leading to easy transition baskets.
Holthaus added 10 points including a pair of 3-pointers while Schumacher stuffed the stat sheet with 6 points, 7 steals and 5 assists. Krystin Uhlenkott added 8 points while Wilson scored 7, Danly 5, Wemhoff 2 and Schmidt 1.
Prairie is now 5-1 on the season and 1-1 in league play.

Schedule changes
The Prairie girls basketball home league game scheduled against Genesee this past Saturday, Dec. 7, has been rescheduled to Saturday, January 18 as part of a quad with the boys basketball team already scheduled for that date with Genesee.
The girls JV game will start at 1 p.m. with the girls varsity game at 2:30 p.m. The boys JV game will be at 4 p.m. with the boys varsity game set for 5:30 p.m.
Genesee had apparently been having bus problems with the single digit temperatures this past weekend.
Also we were informed Thursday morning that the Colton game next Tuesday, Dec. 17, has been moved to Monday, Dec. 16 and the Kamiah game set for Dec. 17 has been moved to Jan. 21
