County Shootout raises nearly $16,000
The Idaho County Shootout raised $15,978 for the Idaho County Food Banks.
The 5th annual event was the best yet as far as raising funds, exceeding last year’s total by over $2,000.
For only the second time in the five years of the event, Grangeville won the competition between the schools. Prairie had won the last 3 years with Grangeville winning the first year of the event.
The event was started by Sheriff Doug Giddings as a way to promote sportsmanship between the schools as well as raise funds for a worthy cause.
Although Prairie lost the student competition, for the first time in the five year history of the event the Prairie basketball teams both won. The boys won the opening game 66-56 and the girls won the second game 49-40.
