Summit boys win twice
The Summit boys basketball team picked up a pair of wins over the past week as they beat C.V. at Kooskia Tuesday, Jan. 14 46-40 and then won a league game over Logos at Craigmont on Saturday, Jan. 18, 53-48.
At C.V.
In a non-league game at Kooskia, the Summit Patriots came from behind in the fourth quarter to beat Clearwater Valley 46-40.
It was a close game throughout as Summit took an 11-7 lead after the first quarter but trailed 21-22 at the half.
C.V. led 30-32 after 3 quarters but Summit outscored the Rams 16-8 in the fourth quarter for the win.
Summit clinched it late at the free throw line, turning a 3-point lead into the final 6-point margin. Michael Waters hit a free throw and Matthew Schwartz hit a pair for the final margin.
Josh Lustig had double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead the team in scoring. Waters just missed a double-double with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Schwartz and Patrick Chmelik scored 8 points each with Tyler Krogh chipping in a 3-pointer.
Chmelik led the team in rebounds with 13.

Vs. Logos
The Patriots completed a season sweep over Logos as Waters had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Summit led by just 1 point at the end of the first quarter, 16-15, but pulled away in the second to take a 31-20 lead at the half.
Logos chipped away at the lead some in the second half but Summit was able to hold on for the victory.
Matthew Schwartz and Lustig also scored in double figures with 12 and 11 points respectively while Chmelik added 8, Krogh 5 and Nathan Beckman 2.
Chmelik was also a defensive force inside with 8 blocked shots.
Summit improves to 7-3 overall and 5-2 in league play.
Summit lost the JV game 36-38.

Summit girls win twice
The Summit Lady Patriots won twice this past week. On Thursday, Jan. 16 they won a non-league game at Kamiah 46-27. On Saturday, Jan. 18 they won a league game against Logos 31-26.
At Kamiah
At Kamiah Summit dominated in the odd-numbered quarters as they outscored the Kubs 18-8 in the first quarter and 12-2 in the third.
They led 28-17 at the half and 40-19 after 3 quarters.
Summit committed just 5 turnovers in the game which helped them keep control of the game.
Sarah Chmelik scored 12 to lead Summit with Megan Seubert scoring 11 and Megan Rehder 10. Rachael Frei added 7 points, Ally Hale 4 and Rachel Waters 2.
The Summit girls also played their first JV game of the season and beat Kamiah 21-8 in a 2-quarter game.

Vs. Logos
In a Senior Night league game against Logos at Craigmont on Saturday, the first half was tight all the way with Summit finally getting some separation in the third quarter.
The score was tied 8-8 after one quarter and 13-13 at the half.
Summit shut down Logos in the third quarter, outscoring them 6-1 to take a 19-14 lead into the fourth.
In the fourth quarter both teams had their best scoring of the game but Summit was able to hold on for the win.
Chmelik led Summit with 8 points with Seubert scoring 7, Hale and Rehder 6 each, and Frei 4.
With the wins Summit improves to 12-3 on the season (they apparently lost to the Lewiston JV on Jan. 11 but we have no info on the game), and 6-2 in league play.
