Lady Pirates win 2 league games
The Prairie Lady Pirates won a pair of league games this past week winning 74-13 at Kamiah Tuesday, Jan. 21 and erasing a first quarter deficit to beat Genesee 60-42 Saturday, Jan. 25 at Genesee.
At Kamiah
The league game at Kamiah Tuesday, Jan. 21 was literally no contest as Prairie raced out to a 23-2 lead by the end of the first quarter and led 48-4 at the half.
It was 62-7 at the 3 quarter mark.
Kyndahl Ulmer led the way with 22 points and 9 rebounds against her former team.
Kayla Schumacher had 15 points, 4 steals and 4 assists while Nicole Wemhoff had 5 steals.
Hailey Danly added 10 points with Keely Schmidt scoring 8, Shayla VonBargen and Krystin Uhlenkott 6 each, Sky Wilson 4 and Wemhoff and Leah Holthaus 2 each.
The JV game wasn’t a whole lot more competitive as Prairie tolled to a 37-7 win in just 2 quarters.

At Genesee
Genesee opened the game with a lot of energy and jumped out to a 0-5 lead while Prairie was struggling to find their shooting touch.
Prairie bounced back from that opening salvo with a 6-0 run of the own and took their first lead on a putback by Ulmer.
Genesee bounced back though and was able to take a 12-15 lead by the end of the first quarter.Krystin Uhlenkott goes after a loose ball along with several Genesee players.
In the second quarter Genesee led by as many as 6 points at 14-20 and still led by 5 at 17-22 with 3:58 left in the half.
Prairie owned the rest of the half though as they tightened up the defense and forced some turnovers with their press.
A basket by Ulmer kicked off a 13-0 run. A steal by Holthaus led to a basket by Schumacher and Ulmer added another basket to put Prairie back on top at 23-22 with 1:54 left. 
Uhlenkott scored a putback and then a lay-up to make it 27-22 and Holthaus finished off the run with a 3-pointer at the 1:43 mark that made it 30-22.
Genesee would score the only points the rest of the half but that was a late basket by Kaleigh Ranisate that made it 30-24 at the break.
Prairie continued to struggle with their shooting from the field in the third quarter, making just 3 of 11 shots, but made up for it at the free throw line where they hit 9 of 10. Schumacher and Ulmer each hit all 4 free throw attempts in the quarter.
Prairie was able to take a 45-33 lead into the fourth quarter despite getting outscored 6-9 from the field.
In the fourth quarter a steal by Danly led to a basket by Uhlenkott and the roles were reversed 20 seconds later as a steal by Uhlenkott led to a basket by Danly.
Schumacher continued hot at the line down the stretch making 5 more free throws in a row before missing her final attempt.
Ulmer wound up with 25 points and 15 rebounds. Her 15 points in the first half kept Prairie in the game when nobody else was scoring. She was 6 for 8 in the first half when the rest of the team was hitting just 7 of 26. She was also 7 for 8 at the free throw line.
Schumacher wound up with 15 points and 10 rebounds, going 9 for 10 at the line.
Uhlenkott scored 9 points with Holthaus scoring 5, Wemhoff 4 and Danly 2.
Despite a first quarter deficit on the boards Prairie wound up with a 45-36 advantage.
Schumacher and Uhlenkott had 4 steals each with Wemhoff adding 3 more. Wemhoff also had 5 assists while Schumacher had 4.
Prairie was 20 for 63 from the field, 32%, and 19 for 27 at the line, 70%. Genesee was 17 for 50 from the field, 34%, and 6 for 9 at the line, 67%.
With the wins Prairie improves to 14-3 overall and 9-1 in league play.
In the JV game Prairie scored the first 18 points and cruised to a 49-21 win.
Shayla VonBargen scored 6 and Sarah Seubert and Chaye Uptmor added 4 each as Prairie outscored Genesee 16-0 in the opening quarter. 
Kylie Tidwell scored the opening basket of the second quarter to make it 18-0. Prairie led 25-4 at the half.
Prairie continued to pull away in the third quarter, outscoring Genesee 15-8 with Seubert adding 5 more points. 
Subs played most of the fourth quarter.
Seubert wound up with 12 points to lead the scoring with VonBargen scoring 8, Tidwell 7, Sierra Latimer and Selina Davila 6 each, Uptmor 5, Sam Remacle 4 and Abbie Uhlenkott 1.
Prairie had a huge 61-33 rebounding edge led by Seubert with 13. VonBargen added 11, Uptmor 10 and Tidwell 8.
Tidwell and Seubert had 4 steals each while Natasha Gimmeson, Uptmor, Remacle and Uhlenkott had 3 each. Uptmor had 4 assists while Gimmeson and Uhlenkott had 3 each.
The JV’s were 21 for 72 from the field, 29%, and 7 for 18 at the line, 39%. Genesee was 9 for 45 from the field, 20%, and 1 for 1 at the line.
