Prairie boys team takes third at Hallissey Tournament
The 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys were also very successful in the Boise Hallissey Tournament President’s Day weekend as they took home the 3rd place trophy.
They recorded a tournament starting win against St. Paul’s on Friday night.  From there, they ran into a tough 8th grade team from St. Joe’s for their early Saturday morning game and lost by 8.  Bouncing back in the afternoon, they beat the St. Joe’s 7th grade team to force another early morning game on Sunday.  Sunday morning they played St. Peter and Paul from Grangeville, a team they have played often during the regular season.  It was a tense game with the Tri-Parish winning a nail-biter in overtime.
This forced another game against the tough St. Joe’s 8th grade team just an hour later.  The boys had met their match and simply ran out of gas as the St. Joe’s team beat them and prepared for the Championship game against St. Mark’s 8th grade team.  St. Mark’s went on to win the tournament.  Our boys will be ready for next year as these tough 8th grade teams from St. Joe’s and St. Mark’s will be moving on to 9th grade.  Adam Forsmann did an outstanding job coaching with the help of Kris Shears with our young team.  They were excellent role models of sportsmanship and fair play.
This year’s team members were: Anthony Karel and Sean Spencer – 8th grade, Dylan Schumacher, Devin Ross, Taylor Ott, Paul Sonnen, and Spencer Schumacher – 7th grade, Derik Shears, Damian Forsmann, Sam Mager, Hayden Uhlenkott, Reid Uptmor – 6th grade.
