Lady Pirates win 4 of 6 games
The Prairie Lady Pirates softball team played 6 non-league games this past week, winning 4 of them.
They started off with a split against Asotin Tuesday, April 8 at Cottonwood, losing the first game 2-5 but coming back to win the second 12-4.
On Friday and Saturday, April 11-12 they traveled to Glenns Ferry where they won 3 of 4 games. On Friday they clobbered North Fremont 23-0 and then beat Soda Springs 11-4. On Saturday they lost to Malad 0-5 before beating West Side 9-4. All four of those schools are in the 2-A classification.
Vs. Asotin
In the opening game against Asotin, Prairie took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first but didn’t score again until the 6th and by that time they were down 1-3. They closed within 2-3 but Asotin added a pair in the top of the 7th and then shut out the Pirates in the bottom of that inning for the win.
Leah Holthaus pitched all 7 innings allowing 4 hits. 3 errors contributed to the Asotin scoring. 
Prairie had just 3 hits in the game, all by Hailey Danly who had 2 triples and a double.
In the second game Asotin scoring 3 runs in the top of the first against Sky Wilson who then allowed just 1 more run in the next 4 innings.
Prairie took the lead with 4 in the bottom of the first and held it until the fourth when Asotin tied it at 4-4. The lead didn’t last long as Prairie answered with 6 in the bottom of the inning. The game was called after 5 innings due to darkness.
Wilson allowed 5 hits in the game in picking up the win.
Prairie had 7 hits and a bunch of walks.
Holthaus had a triple while Holli Uhlorn, Natasha Gimmeson and Abbie Uhlenkott each had a double while Wilson, Danly and Kylie Tidwell each had a single.

Vs. North Fremont
Holthaus tossed a 1-hit shutout and struck out 5 batters against North Fremont to open the Glenns Ferry Tournament.
Prairie took a 3-0 lead in the first and then pounded the Huskies for 15 runs in the third inning while adding 4 more in the fourth before the game hit the time limit.
North Fremont struggled on defense, committing 9 errors in the game.
Prairie had 8 hits in the game with 9 different players collecting at least 1 RBI

Vs. Soda Springs
Against Soda Springs, Prairie scored at least 2 runs in each of the first 4 innings to build an 11-0 lead.
The Cardinals finally got to a tiring Holthaus with 4 runs in the fourth inning. Holthaus gave up 4 hits total in the game.
Prairie pounded out 9 his with Holthaus helping her own cause with a triple, double and single. Danly also had 3 hits with a triple and 2 singles. Wilson, Uhlorn and Hanna Ross each added a single.
Danly wound up with 7 total RBI in the North Fremont and Soda Springs games.

Vs. Malad
In Saturday’s first game Prairie faced defending 2-A state champion Malad.
The Dragons shut out the Pirates holding them to just 4 hits. Holthaus allowed just 5 hits but 2 errors in the third inning led to 3 runs for Malad who went on to win.

Vs. West Side
In their tournament finale against West Side Prairie scored in each of the 4 innings they batted.
They scored 1 in the first, 3 in the second, 2 in the third and 3 more in the fourth to take a 9-1 lead.
West Side scored 3 in the top of the fifth but could get no closer. The game was called on time limit after the top of the fifth.
Holthaus allowed just 3 hits, all singles, to West Side.
Prairie managed just 4 hits but took advantage of walks with timely hits.
Danly and Wilson each had a single and 2 RBI while Holthaus and Tidwell had a single each.
Prairie is now 10-2 on the season.
