Girls 4x400 team wins at Area Best meet
The Prairie girls 4x400 relay team took first at the Meet of Champions in Lewiston Thursday, May 1.Shayla VonBargen gives Krystin Uhlenkott the lead in the 4x400 after having taken the baton in 2nd place to Moscow. Uhlenkott extended the lead as Prairie won the event.
The team of Keely Schmidt, Mykaela McWilliams, Shayla VonBargen and Krystin Uhlenkott turned in a time of 4:19.08.
Lucas Arnzen and Peter Spencer were the highest individual placers, each with a 2nd.
Arnzen placed 2nd in the 200 meter dash in 23.33 seconds. He was also 3rd in the 400 in 51.20.
Spencer was 2nd in the 3200 in 10:21.02. He was also third in the 1600 in 4:42.28.
The girls’ highest individual placers were Uhlenkott and McWilliams, each with a third.
Uhlenkott was third in the long jump at 15’5½”. She also placed 13th in the triple jump at 28’1½”.
McWilliams was third in the 300 hurdles in 49.34 and 4th in the 100 hurdles in 17.34.
Other boys results:
Isaiah Shears was 13th in the 400 in 57.40.
Drew Cochran was 9th in the 3200 in 11:33.71 and 15th in the 1600 in 5:08.24.
Dakota Wilson was 13th in the shot put at 37’10”.
Westin Crenshaw was 15th in the discus at 94’5” and 17th in the shot at 35’9”.
Bryson Higgins was 19th in the long jump at 15’8¼”.
The boys 4x100 team of Bryson Higgins, Shears, Lucas Wemhoff and Arnzen place 10th in 49.88.
The same group also ran the 4x200 and took 6th in 1:39.52.
Other girls results:
Chaye Uptmor was 9th in the 800 in 2:41.74.
Heidi Holubetz was 6th in the shot put at 32’5” and 18th in the discus at 79’4”.
Beth Dinning was 11th in the discus at 82’4”.
VonBargen and Brandi Gehring tied for 8th in the high jump at 4’6”. Gehring was also 11th in the 100 hurdles in 18.74.
The 4x100 team of Schmidt, McWilliams, VonBargen and Uhlenkott was 4th in 52.70.
The 4x200 team of Schmidt, Gehring, Uptmor and VonBargen was 6th in 1:59.67.
The team’s next action is the Regional Meet at Kootenai High School Friday and Saturday, May 9-10.

Regional meet to be at Kootenai High
The District 1 and 2 Regional Track Meet is set for Friday and Saturday, May 9-10 at Kootenai High School near Harrison.
The 1-A and 2-A classification meets are both being held at Kootenai this year.
Action starts Friday at 2 p.m. with field event finals. In the 1-A division finals for boys shot put, boys high jump and girls long jump will be held. Once those are over the girls shot put, girls high jump and boys long jump finals will be held.
Running preliminaries start at 4:30 p.m.
At the conclusion of the prelims the medley relay finals will be held.
Saturday’s action starts at 10 a.m. with the boys discus, pole vault and girls triple jump finals. After those are done the girls pole vault, girls discus and boys triple jump finals will be held.
Running finals start at 1 p.m.
The state meet will be in Boise May 16-17.
