Karla Enneking is employee of the month
"Words can’t describe her; she is a wonderful person, great with both patients and co-workers. Her attitude is always joyful and cheerful, she is never rude, her laugh puts you in a good mood when you’re down, and she is a blessing to have in this hospital.” These were just a few of the comments co-workers mentioned when talking about Karla Enneking who was chosen as the April Employee of the month for St. Mary’s Hospital.Karla Enneking.
Karla has worked in the Cardiac Rehabilitation department at SMH since 2007; her current job responsibilities include; developing plans and processes for monitoring and evaluating the quality and appropriateness of care for each and every cardiac patient.  She assures that the plans are implemented on a departmental level and corrective action taken for all problems identified. She assures that policies and procedures are written, enforced, and approved by the medical staff and reviewed on an annual basis. Prior to joining the Cardiac Rehab department Karla was on the St. Mary’s ambulance crew for over twenty years. 
“I feel I have the best job in the hospital,” said Karla “I work with people who have had serious heart problems and love life and they have been touched by their guardian angel.  It is such a pleasure to work with them when they are going through cardiac rehabilitation, these patients are the best.”
“I retired from the banking business and was approached to work part-time in cardiac rehab,” commented Karla when asked why she decided to go into this profession.  “Retiring and staying home was not for me, I like keeping busy and learning new things.”
After high school, Karla attended Kinman Business University; she ended up transferring to LCSC to complete her business training.  She is still enrolled at LCSC in both credit and non-credit classes through the college and also their Outreach Programs. 
“I take one or two classes each semester and will continue to do so until I can’t anymore,” said Karla.  “The extensive medical training I received while on the SMH ambulance crew has also been very beneficial in my current Cardiac Rehab position.”
Karla keeps busy volunteering with the Syringa Hospice program and the ICare program at St. Mary’s Hospital.  She also teaches CPR and First Aid classes and does AED (automated external defibrillator) training.
When not working or volunteering; Karla enjoys all types of wood working and crafting. She also enjoys going on 4-wheels rides with her dog and just being outside.
Karla has two children and four grandchildren.
