Levy passes, primary election results
The local school levy passed with nearly 60% yes vote, 390 to 276, at the primary election held Tuesday, May 20.
In the only contested race at the county level, Abbie Hudson won the Republican nomination for Idaho County Treasurer over Deanna Hall, who had been appointed to the position when Sharon Cox retired. Hudson drew 1604 votes to 1461 for Hall. Hudson will face Democratic nominee Michelle Perdue in November.
For 2nd District Court Judge Jeff Brudie held off the challenge of former District Court Judge John Bradbury to retain his seat.
In the only state legislative district contested race, incumbent Shannon McMillan held off challenger Shauna Hillman for the Republican nomination for District 7 State Representative, Position A. 
In the statewide races, Butch Otter outpolled 3 challengers for the Republican nomination for Governor. He will face Democrat A.J. Balukoff, who won his party’s nomination, in November.
Incumbent Brad Little outpolled challenger Jim Chmelik for the Republican nomination for Lieutenant Governor.
Lawerence Denney emerged victorious from a 4-way race for the Republican nomination for Secretary of State.
Incumbent Brandon Woolf fought off a challenge from Todd Hatfield for the Republican nomination for State Controller.
Incumbent Lawrence Wasden also held off the challenge of Chris Troupis for the Republican nomination for Attorney General.
For Superintendent of Public Instruction Sherri Ybarra emerged from a tight 4-way race, winning the Republican nomination with just 28.5% of the vote. The 3 other candidates, which included Prairie band instructor John Eynon, each polled between 23.3 and 24.3 percent of the vote.
In the U.S. Senate race incumbent Jim Risch easily defeated Republican challenger Jeremy Anderson with nearly 80% of the note while Nels Mitchell easily won the Democratic nomination with nearly 70% of the vote.
For First District U.S. Representative incumbent Raul Labrador emerged from a 5-way race for the Republican nomination with 78.6% of the vote. He will face Democratic nominee Shirley Ringo, who polled 81.8% of the Democratic votes.
