Gibney receives award
Rachel (Rehder) Gibney, director of nursing at Life Care Center of Valley View in Boise, was named Life Care Centers of Rachel GibneyAmerica’s company-wide Director of Nursing of the Year on May 19. The award is given to the director of nursing who demonstrates outstanding qualities in several areas, including customer service ratings, staff development and successful state surveys. She was selected from all the directors of nursing in Life Care’s more than 220 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities throughout the country.
The facility has been recognized as a five-star facility by Medicare and a Best Nursing Home by U.S. News & World Report. Gibney was recognized for her leadership and her loyalty in serving the facility for the past 19 years, bringing in outside speakers to educate nursing associates on health care topics like wounds, cardiac care, end-of-life care and discharge planning, and giving back to the community through events like the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and Wear Red Day for women’s heart health.
Rachel graduated from Prairie High School in 1993 and BSU.  She is the daughter of Jim & Sally Rehder and granddaughter of Lee & Barbara Rehder of Cottonwood.
