Days O-Mok-See is Aug. 2
It's time for the annual Kooskia Days celebration the first weekend in August and with it comes the Kooskia Saddliers O-Mok-See. 
The Saddliers will host their O-Mok-See event Saturday, Aug. 2, 1 p.m., at the McConnell Arena (formerly called Edwards Clear Creek Arena). Go from Highway 13 to Broadway to Toll Road past the Kooskia Fish Hatchery to get to the arena. "I am hoping a lot of people come out to participate in this fun event," said Kooskia Saddliers Queen 2014 Hailey Russell. Russell is the daughter of Valor and Lorie (Palmer) Russell of Grangeville and will be a freshman at Grangeville High School this year. She participates in volleyball, basketball and track, is a member of the Rough Riders 4-H Club, and has been taking tap dance lessons for 10 years. This fall she will be a member of the Varsity Blue select choir at GHS and will also play her clarinet in the school band. "I have enjoyed representing the Saddliers at many events this year, including in Asotin, Riggins, Kamiah and Winchester, and at Border Days in Grangeville," Russell said. The O-Mok-See will offer five age groups with high point and reserve to each age group and prizes for all those 7 and younger. The day will include barrels, pole bending, two stake, flag race, key hole, scurry race and musical hats for the young ones. Some team events may also be played. Cost is $3 per event or $15 for all day. Concessions will be available throughout the day. Sign up is Aug. 2 just prior to the event. A silent auction will be part of the event which will help raise funds for Saddliers activities. To donate to the silent auction or for questions call Louise Haukedahl at 935-5680. |
