Robot Fun at Summer Reading Program
At Prairie Community Library, on Thursday, July 10th approximately 25 kids gathered together for the 3rd session of Pop, Fizz, Read Summer Reading Program.  The focus was on robots.
As children registered and signed in, others played Robot marshmallow walk or Robot Bingo while they waited.  Many earned robot stickers for bringing in their bookmarks or winning Bingo.  Others were able to make marshmallow robots if they were the lucky winner of the walk.
After all had arrived, the group was divided into two smaller groups.  One group had robot fingers attached to their fingers and learned how difficult it actually is to pick items up.  The other group was split into partners.  With one blindfolded, like a robot, the partner had to give directions to guide them through an obstacle course!  That too, proved harder than it looked!
Both groups then went into the library to hear, “The World of Robots” and “Clink,” stories about robots.  To finish the afternoon, the children went back out into the activity room to either make a miniature moving robot or a robotic hand that actually worked!
The afternoon ended.  Children were encouraged to continue to check out books and read, read, read!  The next session will be Thursday, July 17th, from 1:00 – 3:00.  All are welcome!
