Summit wins at Genesee JV Tournament

Summit Patriot Girls Volleyball Team poured on the determination this weekend at the Genesee Junior Varsity Tournament, bringing home the Championship bragging rights. The Patriots faced off their hometown team Prairie Pirates JV to begin the tournament. Megan Seubert showed up serving 3 aces, 7 blocks, and four kills. Ally Sonnen served 2 aces, and had 6 blocks. Lauren Stubbers, the new kid on the block fired 3 aces, while returning Rachel Waters had 7 assists. Patriots won the match 25 to 19 in both sets.
Patriots played league opponents Timberline next.  Shooting 4 aces, 3 kills, and 2 tips Megan Seubert, Team Captain, led the way. Rachel Waters served 4 aces, with 4 assists. Ally Sonnen served 2 aces, and had 2 kills. Another newbie, Lucy Osborne delivered 2 aces, with new girl Lauren Stubbers serving 2 aces. First set score was 25-17 for Summit and second set was 25-12 for Summit.
Summit played against host team Genesee.  Megan Seubert had 3 aces and 2 tips. Ashlee Stubbers fired two aces, Rachel Waters had 2 aces and 4 assists, Ally Sonnen had 3 blocks, 2 tips and 4 kills, Lauren Stubbers had a kill. The first set went to Summit at 25-16; the second set was close with Summit eking by with a 25-23 win. With this win Summit moved to the top of their bracket into the Championship games.
First Championship Bracket game they played was against Troy. Megan Seubert put over 2 aces, had 4 blocks, and 5 tips. Rachel Waters put over an ace and had 5 assists. Ally Sonnen logged 2 blocks, 4 tips and 4 kills, Lucy Osborne served an ace, and Lauren Stubbers had a kill. Summit won their first match 25-20, and lost their second match 14-25 to Troy (their first and only set loss for the day), it was a battle and a close finish with Summit taking the game with the score 15-13 in the last set.
The Championship game was played with the BIG girls of Lewiston High School.  Megan played hard with 2 blocks, 4 kills and 9 tips. Rachel had 3 assists; Ally Sonnen had a kill and 4 blocks. Freshman Lucy Osborne served a fine ace and freshman Lauren Stubbers fired off 2 aces and had 2 great kills. Much to the surprise of Lewiston, Summit Patriots took the first set 25-14. The volleys were long and hard! Summit never stopped and never lost sight of their goal to win! The focus paid off when Summit won the final set 25-17! Way to GO Patriots! Genesee JV Tournament Champions!

Summit loses to Highland in 5 games
In what was designated as their home match against Highland in Highland’s gym at Craigmont, the Summit Lady Patriots lost their league volleyball opener.
They jumped out to a 2 games to 1 lead but couldn’t hold off the Huskies as they fell in 5 games by scores of 20-25, 25-14, 25-15, 19-25 and 6-15.
Summit drops to 1-1 on the season and 0-1 in league play.
