October events for Tri-Parish Youth
Dear Parents and Teens.
 The days are getting colder and the signs of Fall are definitely upon us.  We welcome this new season with an invitation for you to join us in our youth group opportunities during this new month of October.  We will be fasting, praying, playing, learning, sharing, worshipping, eating, and planning. 
 We will begin the month with gathering together on Oct 1st at the OMG at 7:00 p.m. to watch the movie “God’s Not Dead”. All Jr. High and High School youth are invited.  Please know you are encouraged to dress according to the theme of the movie.  Prizes will be awarded for the best dressed. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Please join us in an hour of Adoration on Oct. 3rd from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.  This is a wonderful opportunity to spend some quiet, one on one time with the Lord.  
 On Oct. 8th the Haiti Mission Team 2016 will meet at the OMG at 7:00 p.m. to plan an upcoming fundraiser. Please be present if you plan on joining us on this mission.  It is not too late to hop on board.   Oct 11th and 12th brings with it the invitation to participate in our annual 30 hour fast.  You will need to pick up a form from the Church office prior to the fast and fill out the registration form.  If you have already filled one out for this year you are good!  The cost of the fast is $30.00.  You will need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow.  You will not be allowed to bring any snacks.  We will spend the night at Keuterville, sleeping outside in cardboard boxes.  We will attend the 8:00 a.m. Mass at St. Mary’s on Sunday which will be followed by a breakfast.  Fasting begins at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.  We will have juice and water to drink during the fast.  Please note: you must be in High School to participate. 
 The small group of High School youth interested in participating in a Bible Study will meet at the OMG at 6:30 on Oct. 13th for pizza followed by an hour Bible study and a walk.  Any high school youth interested in learning more about the Bible are invited to attend.  The peer ministers will meet on Oct. 15th at 7:00 p.m. to plan the upcoming Jr. High, REACH session.  All peer ministers are asked to attend.  Your input and ideas are needed.  On Oct 18th the youth will present information about youth ministry at Masses and will offer opportunities for adults to sign up as volunteers.  On Oct. 18th at 7:00 p.m. the Confirmation youth and their parents are invited to an informational meeting at the High School Peace building.  If you plan on getting confirmed in 2016 please plan on attending this meeting. 
 All Jr. High and High School youth are invited to our first REACH session hosted by the High School Peer ministers at the OMG at 7:00 p.m. Snacks and drinks will be provided.  Please join us for this night of FAITHFILLED FUN.  On Oct 25th the High School youth are invited to spend a day and night at Hell’s Gate park sleeping in tents!  We will be joining in the Haunted Hayride on Saturday night. If you are interested you will need to pick up a registration form from the Church office.  Again, if you have already filled one out for the year, that will work. The cost of the event is $10.00 which will help with the decorations and snacks.  The youth will be asked to bring a potluck dish for dinner.  We will leave at 1:00 p.m. from the Church parking lot on Saturday.  The small group session for Catholic Q and A will meet at the OMG at 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 27th.  If you want questions answered about your Catholic faith, come and join us.  Pizza will be served at 6:30, our study begins at 7:00 and a walk will follow.  All High School youth are invited and encouraged to attend.  On Oct 29th we will have a night of Halloween fun at 7:00 p.m. at the OMG.  Our night will be filled with fun and board games.  You are encouraged to dress up (it Halloween time) and join in the fun.  All Jr. high and high school youth are invited.  Snacks and drinks will be provided. 
 There are many different ways and opportunities for to spend your month.  We hope you consider joining us for one, some, all of the activities that are happening this month in youth group.  Coming together as a body of Christ reflects who we are a young Church wanting to grow and flourish in our faith. We just have to step toward the invitation and say “yes”!  We definitely can’t wait to see you!

30 Hour Fast set for Oct. 11-12
Is your day filled with the joys of yummy foods like hamburgers, donuts, fries, and pop?  Well, I am offering you a challenge too go without these vital needs for 30 hours to help those who go hungry everyday.  
Our annual 30 hour fast will take place at Keuterville hall on Oct 11th and 12th beginning at 10:00 a.m.  This is only for High School youth.  You must have a registration form filled out prior to attending.  The cost for the retreat is 40.00.  The proceeds for the fast go toward Catholic Relief Services and World Vision along with a small amount toward materials for the fast.  Information and forms may be picked up from St. Mary’s office or from Debbie at the PEACE building.  Let’s make a difference in a world that needs us!
 Attention Youth who plan on being confirmed in 2016 .We will have an informational/sign up night at the CEC building at 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 19th.  If you are taking your first year of Confirmation in Release Time you will need to be present as well as those who plan on taking the evening classes.  Parents please attend this meeting with your youth so know what is going during this Confirmation year.  Call Debbie if you have questions.
