Polumsky is employee of the month
The Customer Service team at St. Mary’s Hospital selected Matt Polumsky as the September Employee of the Month.  Matt Polumsky is the September Employee of the Month at St. Mary’s Hospital.Matt was hired in November of 2012 as a Plant Operator and become the Maintenance Manager for SMH in September of 2013.
As the Maintenance Manager; Matt manages and maintains the hospital and surrounding clinics’ mechanical systems and repairs. He also maintains and ensures that each facility’s life safety systems are in order and checked regularly.
“Matt is an intelligent young man with a great willingness to accommodate the needs of patients and staff,” stated a co-worker.  “He goes the extra mile for the facility, he is great to work with and is always looking for the best way to improve and streamline his department.”
Another co-worker stated, “Matt is very friendly and outgoing, he goes out of this way to help everyone and get all requests completed in a timely manner and tries to do it to the best of his ability.”
“I wanted to help drive the progress of keeping things functional and see to it that our patients and staff get the very best of what they need and deserve,” stated Matt when asked why he decided to go into this profession.
“The thing that drives me the most at this hospital is how genuine and caring our staff is,” commented Matt.  “I’m proud to say both of our children were born in Cottonwood at SMH and the reason why we continue to use the services of this hospital is based on the care we receive.  It’s not because it is just the job of the staff to show compassion, but it is the fact the staff really does care.  Every time I bring my children to the facility I can see everyone’s eyes light up and notice how excited they are to see them again.  My kids are treated like family around here and that means a lot to me.  Things like this make me come to work every day and put forth the best effort I can.”
“But I have to say one of my most favorite things about working here at SMH is the biscuits and gravy the kitchen staff serves on Thursday mornings,” laughed Matt.
After graduating from Lewiston high school; Matt completed the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning course at Lewis Clark State College; he is also a HVAC journeyman.
When not working; Matt enjoys finding shed antlers, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, painting old saw blades and cutting firewood.
Matt currently lives in Waha with his wife Brandi; who is also an employee at SMH, his daughter Raelynn and son Wyatt.
