Library News
Well, here I am again. You just can’t get rid of me.
Hurray, the Bräts and Brew was another success. I think everyone had a good time. The new activities seemed to be a hit. The wine corks sold out quickly as well as the 50/50 pot which the lady who won said, “Now I can spend more money on the auctions.”
The silent auction seemed to go very well. I don’t have a clue how much was made as of yet but a dear sweet lady won my Christmas wall hanging. She came and told me she was so excited to have it. That made me feel very good (uh, watch the pride there Jane).
One of the best parts was the dance contest. Since I am not related to anyone here either by blood or marriage, I didn’t play any favorites. There were several that I really wanted to choose but, of course, I could only pick 3. It was a tough group of dancers. However, I had made my criteria beforehand so I stuck to that. It still didn’t make it any easier. I don’t think I stepped on anybody’s toes (Bad pun there Jane).
Thanks again to the wonderful band, The Coffey Twins and the Satins. They added to the fun with a bubble blowing contest. The hula hoop rounded out their fun and they ended with a ball, a beach ball that is.
Boy Dennis Rowland made the live auction special and he included lots of pressure on some but I think fun was had by all. (Until they had to write out the check…hahaha).
Jim Rehder did a bang up job keeping the event on schedule and made it run smoothly. The food contest was tough but I am so happy for my competition who did a great dessert and won. The senior citizens here got to taste my dessert because I had some left. The Fiddlers were there last Tuesday and were a big hit.
Well, the total results will be available some time this month. Since the Library is self-supporting, I want to thank all who helped make it another success. Just to remind this community, this library, even though it is small, serves many people, adults as well as children and all the work is done by volunteers. (I keep asking for a raise but they said I was already overpaid. Hahaha). It has been a privilege to serve on this board with the other volunteers. They do so much more than any of you realize.
I am inviting each of you to come into the library and see some of the changes and sit in on a board meeting. (Off the soap box jk)
UPCOMING EVENTS: Charles Wilson, a local author, will be signing his books sometime in January. I have read two of his books and loved both of them. It’s great to have clean books than can be enjoyed by young and old. He now lives in Grangeville. I have enjoyed having his dear wife and Charles in our home. Watch for the date and time to come out soon.
There will be other events coming up soon so stop in and check the library out.
Just a note, I didn’t mention names of any winners because I didn’t have their permission. If anyone has comments on this year’s event, please let us know. We simply round file most of them (just kidding). Laurine said I had to keep it clean and not offend anyone. Argh, so many restrictions.
