Summit celebrates Holy-ween
Friday, October 31, Summit Academy celebrated Holy-ween.  Conducted by Mrs. Gina Lustig, Formation Coordinator,  and Miss Frei, 11/12th grade Homeroom teacher.  Holy-ween was a festive, educational experience about the lives of ancient and modern followers of Jesus.
After receiving a lecture on the Saints, the high school students guided the K-8th grade students through a darkened maze—an ominous-looking “labyrinth” designed over a two-day interval.  Within the maze, drama stations were set up, after the tradition of a living museum.  First, students learnedof Saint Damien, missionary to the south Pacific, who served on leper colonies.  Next post, students were introduced to Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, Archangels of the most High God and who clandestinely intercede for us.  Traveling yonder, students encountered St. Hubert, an irreligious man that experiences a conversion to God while hunting a deer.  At the final site, students were approached by her royal highness, St. Margaret of Scotland: a lover of the poor who taught politeness, manners, and kindness to her rough and brutish royal court.
After viewing each of the saint stations, and completing the maze, all students gathered outside for a time of asking the Saints’ intercession.  “All you Holy Saints of God, pray for us.”  The event ended with all the students welcomed into a depiction of heaven, which was held in the gymnasium in the form of a party and reception.
