Veterans Home gift shop
The Christmas Gift Shop at the Lewiston Veterans’ Home if fast approaching, and your help is needed to make it a success.
The veterans prepare a list of loved ones they would like to give a present to, and then volunteers make sure that enough gifts are available.  The items are displayed in a room at the Veterans’ Home, and the men and women are allowed to come in and choose what they would like to give to their family members.  The presents are then wrapped and tagged by other volunteers.  There is no cost to the veterans for this; all the gifts are donated.
Items that are always welcome at the Gift Shop include bath towel sets, sweat shirts, boxes of candy, meat and cheese gift sets, and especially MONEY to buy what isn’t donated and for postage to mail presents.
Organizers of the event would like to have all donations turned in before Thanksgiving so that additional gifts may be purchased if necessary.  The Gift Shop takes place the first part of December to allow time for presents that have to be mailed.
You may drop donations off with Doug Hill at Craigmont Auto.  For more information, please contact Ralph Mathison or any Legionnaire.  Please be generous with these aging heroes.
