Lady Pirates improve to 6-0
The Prairie Lady Pirates picked up 3 wins this past week, all league wins, as they beat Potlatch 60-31, Troy 55-30 and C.V. 72-30 to improve to 6-0 on the season.
At Potlatch
At Potlatch Tuesday, Dec. 2, Krystin Uhlenkott went off for 28 points to lead Prairie to an easy win over the Loggers.
Many of her points were generated by her defense as she had 5 steals, many of which she converted to easy lay-ups.
Prairie jumped out to a 22-11 lead by the end of the first quarter thanks to their overall defensive intensity. 
They increased that lead to 38-17 by halftime. 
It was 53-25 by the end of the third quarter.
Kayla Schumacher contributed big with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Angela Wemhoff added 6 points while Natasha Gimmeson scored 3, Shayla VonBargen 2 and Josie Peery 1.
VonBargen also hit double figures in rebounds with 10.
Prairie also won the JV game by a scored of 49-35.

At Troy
On Saturday, Dec. 6 the Lady Pirates traveled to Troy where they shook off a poor shooting first half to roll to a 55-30 win.Angela Wemhoff and Krystin Uhlenkott double team Troy’s ball handler. Shayla VonBargen can be see in the background.
Their pressure defense kept Prairie in front in the game until their offense could catch up. Their defense held Troy to just 13 shot attempts in the first half while allowing them to hoist 51 shots. Unfortunately only 9 of those shots would fall.
Prairie did take a 5-0 lead as Wemhoff converted a 3 point play to open the scoring and a steal by VonBargen led to a basket by Uhlenkott.
After Troy cut the lead to 1, VonBargen, Schumacher and Wemhoff each scored to put Prairie up 11-4. Potlatch hit a 3-pointer in the final seconds of the first quarter to cut the lead to 11-7.
Another 3 pointer early in the second cut that lead to 1 point.
Prairie surged ahead but Troy was able to come back and tie the game at both 14 and again at 16.
A 7-0 run fueled by their defense put Prairie up 23-16 and after a Troy free throw, Priarie ended the half with a 5-0 run to take a 28-17 lead at the break.
After their 18% shooting effort in the first half, Prairie came out and hit 56% in the third quarter, 10 of 18, as they blitzed the Trojans 21-1 to take full control of the game.
Prairie scored the first 11 points of the third quarter to make it a 16-0 run stretching back into the second quarter. After a Troy free throw Prairie on a 10-0 run to end the quarter and put the game into running clock mode for the fourth quarter.
Uhlenkott scored 8 of Prairie’s 21 third quarter points.
Troy connected on three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter but were never able to get closer than 23 points.
Uhlenkott led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points while Wemhoff scored 13, Schumacher 12 and VonBargen 11. Kylie Tidwell added 2 points and Josie Peery 1.
Schumacher led in rebounding with 11 with VonBargen adding 9 as Prairie held a 44-35 edge on the boards.
Prairie forced 34 turnovers with Schumacher recording 8 steals, VonBargen 7 and Uhlenkott 6. Hailey Danly had 4 assists while Wemhoff had 3.
Prairie wound up 22 for 79 from the field, 28%, and 9 for 16 at the line, 56%. Troy was 9 for 31 from the field, 29%, and 7 for 13 at the line, 54%.
Prairie also had little trouble winning the JV game as they pulled away to a 47-16 win.
Prairie trailed 4-7 after a 3-pointer by Troy in the first quarter then put together a 20-0 run to take control of the game.
They finished the first quarter with 7 straight points and opened the second with 13 in a row to take a 24-7 lead. The scoring was well spread around as 9 of the 10 players who got on the floor in the first half scored led by Sarah Seubert with 6 and Leah Higgins with 5.
Prairie led 26-10 at the half.
It was more of the same in the third quarter a Prairie outscored Troy 19-1 to make it 45-11 heading into the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter was played under a running clock.
Seubert wound up scoring 14 to lead the team with Leah Higgins and Sydney Bruner adding 7 each. Selena Davila scored 6 with Talyss Lustig scoring 4. Sam Remacle, Sierah Poxleitner, Delaney Uhlenkott and Sarah Ross each scored 2 while Sierra Latimer scored 1.
Davila led Prairie to a 55-23 rebounding edge with 20 rebounds. Seubert added 13.
Lustig and Seubert had 4 steals each while Higgins had 2 assists.
The JV’s were 21 for 78 from the field, 27% and 5 for 12 at the line, 42%. Troy was 6 for 23 from the field, 26%, and 3 for 10 at the line, 30%.

Chaye Uptmor looks to shoot against C.V. At right is Josie Peery.Monday, Dec. 8 Prairie used a 9-0 run in the first quarter and a 12-0 run in the second to break open the home game against the Clearwater Valley Rams. They added a 20-3 run in the third quarter to really put things on ice.
3 minutes into the game the score was tied at 4-4 when VonBargen scored back to back baskets to make it 8-4. After a C.V. basket Schumacher scored a free throw to kick off a 9-0 run that gave prairie a 17-6 lead. Schumacher finished off the run with a 3-point play with Wemhoff scored 3 and Uhlenkott 2 in between.
C.V. scored 4 straight then a Schumacher steal led to a lay-up by Uhlenkott and VonBargen added the front end of a 1 and 1 to make it 20-10 at the quarter break.
After the two teams traded baskets to open the second, Chaye Uptmor scored to kick off a 12-0 run that put Prairie up by 22.  Schumacher added a pair of baskets, Peery scored 2 free throws and Uptmor added 2 more baskets for a 34-12 lead.
Prairie eventually led 44-19 at the half.
C.V. scored first to open the second quarter then Prairie started their 20-3 run. They scored 12 straight before C.V. scored a 3-pointer and then 8 more to push the lead to 40 at 64-24.
At that point they pulled the foot off the gas pedal and coasted to the win with the fourth quarter played under a running clock.
Schumacher had a solid double-double with 20 points and 16 rebounds. VonBargen almost had a double-double with 8 points and 11 rebounds. Uptmor also approached a double-double with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Danly added 10 points with Wemhoff scoring 9, Uhlenkott 6, Gimmeson 5 and Peery and Seubert 2 each.
Prairie dominated on the boards 58-27 and also dominated on the offensive boards leading to numerous multiple shot possessions.
Wemhoff had 4 steals while Uhlenkott and Gimmeson had 3 each. Uhlenkott also led in assists with 3.
Prairie was 29 for 76 from the field, 38%, and 14 for 18 at the free throw line, 78%. C.V. was 11 for 45 from the field, 24%, and 7 for 15 at the line, 47%.
Prairie is now 6-0 on the season and 3-0 in league play.
In the JV game Prairie jumped out to an 11-0 lead and led 25-4 at the end of the first quarter and 42-8 at the half on their way to a 65-13 win.
Kylie Tidwell helped the JV’s get off to their hot start with 9 first quarter points. Sierra Latimer and Josie Peery added 4 each.
The second unit took over in the second quarter and hardly missed a beat as Delaney Uhlenkott scored 6, Selena Davila 5 and Sam Remacle 4 as Prairie outscored C.V. 17-4 in the second quarter.
Prairie backed off on the pressure defense in the second half but still limited C.V. to just 5 third quarter points and shut them out in the fourth.
Davila wound up as the leading scorer with 14 points with Peery also hitting double figures with 10. Tidwell scored 9, Uhlenkott 8, Sydney Bruner 7, Remacle 5, Latimer 4, Leah Higgins and Jade Peery 3 each and Sarah Ross 2.
The JV’s dominated on the boards with Davila pulling down 15 to lead Prairie to a 48-25 advantage.
Higgins had 7 steals and 4 assists while Tidwell had 6 steals and Latimer 5. Ross and Bruner added 4 steals each. 12 different players had at least 1 steal as Prairie forced the Rams into 33 turnovers.
The JV’s were 28 for 72 from the field, 39%, and 9 for 26 at the line, 35%. C.V. was 6 for 28 from the field, 21%, and did not attempt a free throw.
