12 turn out for Summit boys basketball
There are 12 boys out for basketball at Summit Academy this year.
Summit should be competitive in the White Pine League Division 2 league although they have a couple of huge holes to fill as their top two scorers from last season both graduated.
Returning starters are seniors Josh Lustig and Nathan Beckman and junior Dean Stubbers. Sophomore Patrick Chmelik saw a lot of time on the floor last season and he and fellow sophomore Tyler Krogh figure to fill out the starting lineup.
Also returning from last year’s team are juniors Thomas Schwartz and Caleb Currier and sophomore Christopher Osborne.
New to the team this season are sophomore Alejandro Kopczynski and freshmen Luke Schwartz, Jacob Stubbers and Justin Wassmuth.
Returning as coaches this season are Ron Frei and his daughter Kimberly Frei.
District 2 gets 1½ teams to state this season, the district champions automatically advance while the second place team faces a play-in game.
