Summit 1st at Grangeville meet
Summit Academy scored 470 at the January 12th Academic Bowl Meet in Grangeville, Idaho, which made our team the winners of this competition.
Currently, Summit is in 4th place out of the seven schools who participate in the district.  Three more meets are scheduled for the rest of the year.  Megan Seubert, Rachel Waters, Joshua Frei, Ashley Stubbers, Joshua Lustig, Nathan Beckman, and Dean Stubbers mentally combated well.  Special thanks go out to Matt and Linda Beckman, Summit’s Academic coaches.  
Dean Stubbers said, “It was a good night.”
The next meet will be held March 9, 2015, at Prairie High School.

Summit loses at Lapwai then beats Highland in double overtime
The Summit Academy Patriots played a pair of games last week, losing 59-78 at Lapwai, Wednesday, Jan. 14 and then giving Highland their first league loss 68-57 in a double overtime thriller Thursday, Jan. 15 at Craigmont in what was designated as a Summit home game.
At Lapwai
In a non-league game at Lapwai, Summit fell way behind early and couldn’t climb out of the deficit. Lapwai outscored the Patriots 7-25 in the first quarter and although Summit played even with the Wildcats the rest of the way, they couldn’t make up the ground.
Summit trimmed the deficit to 15 by halftime at 23-38 but Lapwai pushed it back to 18 by the end of the third quarter at 37-55.
Summit’s inside players scored well as Chris Osborne scored 16 to lead the team while Josh Lustig scored 15 and Patrick Chmelik 12. Nathan Beckman added 10 with Tyler Krogh, who normally scores in double figures, held to just 4 points. Thomas Schwartz added 2 points.
Lapwai also won the JV game 35-57.

Vs. Highland
Summit went into the game against Highland with a chance to tie the Huskies at the top of the league standings and jumped out to a huge lead by the end of the first quarter at 24-7.Chris Osborne is headed for a game-tying lay-up that would send Summit’s game against Highland into overtime.
Highland settled down and played even with the Patriots in the second quarter as the score was 37-21 at the half.
The second half was a different story though as the Huskies outscored the Patriots 2-15 to cut Summit’s lead to just 3 points heading into the fourth quarter at 39-36.
With 15 seconds left Highland scored a free throw to tie the game with the other attempt just rimming out. The game went into overtime tied at 48-48.
In the first overtime Highland was ahead 52-54 when Osborne stole the ball and took it in for a lay-up to tie the game and send it to a second overtime.
Summit then took control in the second overtime outscoring the Huskies 14-3 to give the Huskies their first league loss.
Krogh bounced back from a tough night at Lapwai to lead Summit in scoring with 20 points. Chmelik added 13 with Osborne scoring 12 and Lustig 10 as again Summit had 4 players in double figures. Schwartz nearly hit double figures with 9 points while Beckman and Dean Stubbers added 2 each.
Chmelik led with 13 rebounds and added 5 steals while Schwartz also had 5 steals.
Summit is now 8-2 on the season and 6-1 in league play. As of this writing Summit is all alone in first as Highland lost to Kendrick later in the week.
There was no JV game.
