February activities for Tri-Parish Youth
February brings with it our invitation for change.  As Lent challenges us to assess our lives and enter into Christ’s journey toward the cross we begin to shift our mindsets and yearn for newness of heart. This month brings with it opportunities for our young people to grow in this newness and become all that God calls us to be as a young Church.  Please consider joining us on this journey through retreat, prayer, discussion, learning, planning, work, and fun!
We will start the month off by attending a Jr. High Retreat in Coeur D’Alene on Jan. 31st and returning on Feb. 1st.   Currently we have 42 people attending this retreat.  I am looking forward to seeing all that God has in store for us during this time.  The Haiti Team will be selling cinnamon rolls and Chili on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb 1st.  All proceeds toward the 2016 Mission Trip. Thank you for your support in advance.  On Feb. 4th the Peer Ministers are asked to meet at the OMG @ 7:00 p.m. to plan the March REACH session for the Jr. High and High School youth.  Your presence is greatly appreciated and needed.  On Feb. 6th all High School youth and Jr. High youth are invited to attend an hour of prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Our prayer time goes from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. I hope you can join us for this special time with the Lord, please remember to bring your journals.  On Feb. 8th don’t for get to attend the Holy Cross dinner.  In the evening the Confirmation youth will meet at 7:00 at the CEC for Confirmation class.  The youth have decided that they want to have snacks instead of dinner for our meetings so please note, we will only have snacks and not a dinner at our upcoming meetings.
On Feb. 9th the small group will gather for Catholic Q and A at Debbie’s office.  We will start with pizza at 6:30 and our session at 7:00 and a walk at 8:00.  Everyone is welcome to this night of Catholic teen discovery.  We explore questions that you as a young person are asking in the Catholic faith.  I guarantee you; you will be surprised at what you learn.  On Feb. 10th I will be attending a meeting in Lewiston with the area Youth Ministers to finalize our plans for ICYC in March.  On Feb. 11ththe Peer Ministers will meet for a night of prayer.  This night will focus on praying with each other for the needs of each other.  Each of the peer leaders have experienced this prayer opportunity at the various retreats they’ve attended throughout the past year, therefore it has become an essential part of their journey toward God’, wisdom, truth and direction in their lives.  We will begin the night with dinner at 7:00 and a time for prayer to follow. (If anyone is interested in providing dinner please let me know)  All High School leaders are asked to attend.  Please pray for our Hallisey boys and girls from PFFP and Summit Academy as they will be playing in Boise over Valentine weekend.
On Feb. 17th the youth are invited to attend the Family Lent night sponsored by PFFP at St. Mary’s.  This Lenten family night will follow the Mass.  I highly encourage you to encourage your families to attend this great opportunity as means of starting your Lenten journey.  On Ash Wednesday, Feb 18th we will offer any youth who hasn’t attended Mass yet an opportunity to join us.  We will meet at the OMG at 6:00 p.m. for a dinner of soup and toasted cheese sandwiches and then head to Mass at St. Anthony’s in Greencreek.  You are invited to join us and bring your friends as we begin our Lenten journey!  On Feb. 21st we are honored to have Jaime Theitten visit Cottonwood again for a Lenten retreat.  Loretta Poxleitner is organizing this great afternoon event.  If you are a Senior in High School and are interested in attending please let me know.  I am very excited about this great opportunity and encourage other to attend as well.
During the week of Feb. 22nd through 26th I will be in Moscow at St. Augustine’s doing Spiritual Direction for the college students, which may include some of our local young people.  The campus has one week set aside every year for students to meet witha spiritual director for an hour a day.  This gives them an opportunity to grow in their faith and delve deeper into their walk with God.  It is an honor to be a part of the journey that these young people are on.  Please pray for us during this week as the Holy Spirit speaks into the hearts and lives of these young adults.  On Feb. 25th I will have someone host a movie night at the OMG at 7:00 p.m.  All Jr. High and High School youth are invited to attend.
God always invites us to the table of faith filled love.  Please consider this invitation and join us in our youth activities to see what God may be saying to you.
In Christ,
Debbie
